Problem with Broken steel, plz help

I installed broken steel onto my computer and i was anxious to finish the main quest so i went to my save right before you enter the purifier room. I tried all the endings but every time after it shows the end video, it goes back to me standing or lying on the floor of the purifier and nothing happens! I cant move, speak, or do anything. I read that im supposed to be in the citadel. Anyone know why its doing this??

Are you using a customized race? If so, you'll need to get one of the customized race alternate ending mods.

I have the same problem.

After 108 hours of playing with my char, the game descided to stop working.

I had collected all skillbooks (except 5), pre war books, quantums and diagrams.

I was level 30 and had finished all add-ons except broken steel, which I can't even start.

My char was modified with a different race, new skin, new eyes and new hair. (4 modified files)

After smashing the fallout-case against the wall I tried everything, I changed the bootorder of the modifications for example. the only result was, that the modification wasn't visible anmyore.But doesn't matter what I tried, after the credits I was laying around / standing in front of the purifier unable to move.

If I delete the mods completely the savegame doesn't work anymore.

Don't know what to do :confused:

 

Yesterday I reinstalled Fallout, patched it to 1.7, installed all add-ons and started with another char. This time without any modification. But what if the problem with the last quest is still there?

Is there a code to start the last quest imediately? So I could see weather I can finish the game or not...

How did you get on the Nexus forums and not know to search the FO3Nexus for the file? o_O

 

Here is the file this time, but it's easy to search yourself.

 

I didn't know about such mod. It sounded strange to me. But thanks man now it works. :thanks:

Just as FYI, the fault was really Bethesda's ... the script to start Broken Steel is embedded in race-specific switches, so if you are playing a custom race, you by-pass all the "if race==xxx" kind of statements where the Broken Steel start-up statements are located. The custom race mods generally overwrite this script with one that adds a condition to start if the previous ones didn't fire.

 

Because of the script overwriting, it is generally best to put such custom race mods near the end of your load order in FOMM (not using FOMM? Shame on you!). Also, utlities like FO3Edit (get Miax's guiide on how to use it as well) are priceless in resolving mod conflicts (and script overwriting can definitely cause mod conflicts!).
