Koshnek
Hello, Could someone please review my FOmods and comment to the correctness of their order, please? I am running all of the DLCs, patch 1.7, and the unofficial patch, and I have these hi-res retexturing packs: Megaton, Rivet City, roads and rocks, Sun, Night Sky, Moon, blood, and some PA suits). I have FOMM and FOSE, and I also have FO3Edit, but I haven't learned how to use it very well yet. I have quite a few mods, but so far, I have only noticed that my Hair Pack (plus Sarem's, Sparkling Eyes, and throttles' lashes) do not work. When I first started installing my Fallout 3 mods, I began adding my mods modularly (), and all my eyes and hair worked. Up to this point I only tested the mods I could within immediate area of Vault 101 and Megaton. (Clothes, texture, hair, eyes, auto-start, etc.) because I have no advanced saved games to test other features with. Basically, I'm saying that at least my body replacer, textures, hair packs, and at least some of my armor (except persona and secret don't work?) mods were working before I activated the rest of my mods. I think I have 160 something, so I'm sorry for the long list . I would like to keep most of these packs, but if some of them have to go I definitely have to have MMM, XFO, a Body Replacer (preferably dimonized), and hair/eye packs. Edit: Also, it seems that I can now play as Ghoul? I couldn't do that before when I was using only some of my mods. And now, I can access a hairstyle hair20 which wasnt available before (at least not by that name). I can't leave the starting room for the computer room/exit in my shack now, either (the Autostart RPers mod shack). When I try to enter the next room, its as if I'm running into a wall where the doorway is. I don't have my old load order available to compare, so I can't say what I changed in this latest one. I followed FOIP's and XFO's load orders, but it still didn't work out right. Edit: Edit : Oh, and I can delete almost all of the clothing mods if they are causing issues. Most of them are too much for me. I like feminized armor, but I think Captain Underpants should stay in the funnies ;D. I don't like mods that add a lot to the game, however. Thats why I stuck with XFO and MMM instead to FOOK, for example. I do like XFO's changes to the perk system and the hunger addition, etc. though.
csb
First and foremost, with that many mods you should be using FO3Edit to help with conflict determination and resolution (get Miax's great FO3Edit guide to help you learn the tool). As for hairpack.esm and all the other cosmetic mods ... I highly recommend you get Ling's LC&C, or Ling's Finer Things (or both). Then, once you are comfortable with FO3Edit, you can change the master dependency of mods on hairpack etc. to point to Ling's LC&C as its esm ... works great and the FormIDs in LC&C are compatible with HairPack.esm. This will greatly reduce the Data folder's mesh/texture bloat, as the vast majority of the cosmetic stuff (and armor and other things as well in LFT) are kept in BSA files -- in addition, you'll have access to more hairs, eyes and whatnot than in the original hair/eye mods individually, and with no conflicts that can't be easily resolved with FO3Edit. Koshnek
Ah, I haven't heard of Miax's guide yet, and I haven't installed Lings yet. Thank you, I'll look both up. Does anything else stick out?
csb
I use the UPP perks set myself :) ... but regardless of mod preferences, the whole key to getting mods to play nicey-nice with each other is by using utilities such as FO3Edit to resolve mod conflicts. The FOIP (Fallout Interoperability Project) uses FO3Edit (I believe) to create their compatibility patches between mods. Miax's guide shows you how to take the same approach using FO3Edit for your collection of mods.
