VergilPrime Posted October 9, 2009 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Learning to mod, someone want to help me out from time to time? Im wanting to make a new player home with some custom themes and so on. I just finished my first working mod, its for two unique weapons, although im not much good with 3d modeling so they just use the 10mm pistol and baseball bat mesh. That weapon mod I made, i was reworking it and a problem arose, when moving the cursor over the weapon to pick it up (or shoot at it) the name displays for a moment (PCname's 10mm Pistol) and then the game crashes. I havnt had this issue before when i first made the mod a few days back, only now. The settings i changed were bringing down the power from 2000 to 95, setting the spread to 0, min spread to 0. fire rate to 15 and semi-auto whatever it said to .0001, min .0001. Other than that all i did was stick it on the floor in the Megaton Player House. I had another modded weapon that was new next to it, I didnt try and pick it up at the time, its only difference is that it fires 50 projectiles per shot. Thats more of an experiment but then again i didnt try to pick that one up. Both weapons were in the same mod, I suspected that the item code associated with the gun might have somehow matched up with the previous mod I was running so I had two different mods running with the same item code, but I disabled the previous mod, backed it up and deleted it and tried again to no avail. neunen Posted October 10, 2009 Share Posted October 10, 2009 is it a custom model? saying that shooting at it lying on the ground makes me think its a problem with the world model, possibly its collision mesh. thats a toughy though because there are so many possibilities. have you tried giving one of them to your player through the console, then equipping it? if that crashes (when equipped) its almost definitely a problem with the world model. but if it doesnt, then try to drop it and shoot /pick up that one, and if it crashes then it seems like it would be a collision issue. if neither of those cause a crash then it might have something to do with the placed instance. hopefully that helps somewhat Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
VergilPrime Posted October 12, 2009 Author Share Posted October 12, 2009 Well it just used the normal 10mm mesh, its basically just a 10mm with changed stats and name. I deleted that mod and tried again from scratch and the new one is working fine... So you all know the gravity hammer from Halo 3? Does anyone know how i could add an explosive effect to a melee weapon? Im kicking around the idea of a grav ham mod or like a hammer of thor type weapon.
