invisible conjured familiar

I am very new to skyrim and after many attempts finally got the game to run most of the time. However I recently discovered a conjure familiar spell that while working (spell casts, magic is deducted) the familiar itself is invisible. I know it's there, I can mouse over it, I can kill it and it will even fight. The model just is nowhere in sight.

 

This is not so much of a concern unless it plagues all my conjurations. Has anyone else had this problem and if so know of a fix?
