TotallyNotToastyFresh
Easy enough question, I think. What file do you need to open and edit to change the default assault rifle muzzleflash? I've been wanting to do this for ages. Cheers, Toasty.
ecksile
Well you need to extract the muzzle flash from the .bsa archives. You can edit that. If you want to make a whole new muzzle flash for custom weapons etc. then you will still extract and edit but you will have to then find the effect in the GECK and edit that accordingly as well. Skree000
they are nif files located in meshes/effects/muzzleflashes/ open in nifskope to do simple things like change color, texture, scale etc or delete parts. To do major changes such as reshape them, etc youll need to import the nif into blender or max, then back out again and back into nifskope, reassemble and resave. I just did muzzleflash work last night so its fresh in my mind :)
TotallyNotToastyFresh
Thanks for the quick replies, guys. I was thinking more along the lines of editing a sprite to get the desired effect. Like, I extracted muzzleflasharsubs01.dds from the .bsa archive, edited the alpha channel of that assuming that it would change the shape etc but it had no effect on ingame muzzleflahes at all. Skree, do you have MSN?
