nuska
I've been working on a series of improved armour meshes for both Oblivion and Morrowind, but NifSkope is causing me some major headaches. I've been following the tutorials on the TesCS wiki, but they seem to be making me none the wiser, only going into detail with replacing an existing mesh with another, or how to add custom weapons. What I'm doing is replacing the old armour meshes with new ones created in Blender and exported into .Nif format.I've followed all the steps up to the point of having the new mesh and the to-be-replaced mesh open in NifSkope, and the new mesh includes the skeleton, is parented and shows up correctly in NS. However, when I start copying and pasting branches, the problems start. The new meshes show up all right in the new window but there is something really wrong with the branch data. I've confirmed it by testing the mesh ingame, it either causes Oblivion to freeze up or appears invisible. What the NiTriStrips seem to be lacking is SkinInstance data, but I seem to be unable to copy and paste them from the original mesh, instead NS adds those branches to the root of the new mesh's data and not under the armour parts. I've also deleted some unnecessary vertices from the original mesh, and there's apparently something I should do to accommodate the change? This is starting to be very frustrating and I've spent a lot of hours trying to figure it out with all the guides available, but none seem to address this particular issue. Can someone who has experience with custom armour spare their NifSkope knowledge? Oh, and here's a comparison shot of one of the armours I've been tweaking. It's for the HGEC body :) EDIT: Oh damn, looks like this should've gone in the General Mod Talk forum instead. Can someone move this?
