Well, what are you doing whenever it crashes. try to find a common denominator. Are you always OUTSIDE (in the wasteland) when it crashes? Interior only? Just in One area? When you are in VATS? When trying to do something specific? Pipboy Light on? Pipboy showing on screen? What are your computers base specs? how much ram do you have, what graphics card and how much Vram does it have?Are you running the game on Max settings? Cimmarov Posted October 13, 2009 Author Share Posted October 13, 2009 System specs: AMD Phenom II x4 965 OC 3.85. 4g of DDR3 Hyper X 1600 ram. Sapphire 4890 2g video card. As of right now I am using onboard audio. The game only seems to crash outside at random places. For the most part I am just walking about no real action being done at time of crash. I had a crash a bit ago in a specific spot so I reloaded and went back to the exact same spot and did not get a crash. Cimmarov Posted October 14, 2009 Author Share Posted October 14, 2009 I use console commands from time to time not all that often. The save game file size is 8.46mb. I have auto saves turned off so I can only manual save games. Also I only have 20 saves in my save game folder. Just out of curiosity what dose the save game size matter and is there a way to make them smaller in size. I checked them all and they seem to get larger as my saves progress. I know it sucks, but try making a fresh new game and play for an hour or so, see if you have any CTDs. it could be your savegame is corrupt. Skree000 Posted October 14, 2009 Share Posted October 14, 2009 mods that use messy code scripts, especially ones that 'spawn' items (usually via 'player.placeatme' but are not followed up by 'disable' and 'mark for delete') usually end up spawning large quantities of invisble entities in the game world, which accumulate over time wherever they are created. The game has to keep a running tally of all of these, and usually ends up tripping over its own shoes in the process. There IS a way to 'purge' your cells (cells as in world-zones), but i heard it is risky and can totally fubar your savegame, (but thats ok if you make a backup). none of this is necessary if you are still getting CTD's with a fresh new game however. So yeah, purging your savegame we can use as a last resort. Its prolly some mod related things crashing it, but the key is finding out what.
