Guest deleted2588518
"I really need to get into this house without alerting the guards! Bashing the door in would attract unwanted attention and I'm no theif! If only there were some other way!" Ok so you don't want to waste perk points on all those lock picking talents just to have access to the shiny loot in all those chests. And you really dislike only having one option to get into a chest. Sure, bashing down a door seems lore friendly and straightforward, Sure. But what if you could just smelt keys and bypass the locks completely? Suggestion: Smithing as an alternate to lockpicking. Along with arrows, it will keep you coming back to the forge even after you no longer need to upgrade your weapons and armor. Give you another tool to use outside of lockpicks or a trusty mace in times where blunt force or picking isn't an option. low level metals, like Iron, allow the crafting of low level keys that open Novice level locks. As you progress in smithing, you open up access to higher level materials to craft higher level keys to open higher level locks. Low level keys used on high level locks should break. And, like lockpicks, there should be a percent chance for a key to break inside the lock. On the programing side of things I could see an issue with specific doors/chests that require specific keys already. I would leave these doors/chests alone. The idea is that while lockpicking is an asset, and something every adventurer should be knowledgeable with... The option of an alternative should be availible. And while we can bash a door in with a blunt weapon... (which I enjoy greatly) sometimes I'd rather not smack it repeadedly or have to fiddle with the lock. Or, being as my character isn't a theif... still having access to the chest loot without becoming a theif.
chanchan05
Uh, I can pick open master locks without investing a single perk in the lockpicking tree. That tree is useless.
