Saiyajin123
On this site and even on the bethsoft site, it's suggested to use Blender to create the models for your weapons/items. What I'm wondering is if any 3D modeling program will do. For example, I have a program called Carrara. It's a lot more user friendly and I'm much more experienced with it. Could I use this program instead of Blender to model my items/weapons? If so, what format would I have to export it as?
ecksile
You could...but u would have to download the nifscripts for it in order to export the model as the correct format, and i don't think they make them for anything other then 3ds and blender and maybe maya. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Either way id suggest you learn to use blender as it is pretty easy to use and actually pretty noob friendly. Plus it has a whole internet book written on how to use it. As well as any problems you run into people will be able to help you with them more then they will with Carrara. Saiyajin123
Hmmm...Oh wait. I can always just import the finished product into Blender, then convert it to the nifscript. I have Blender on this computer and I know I can export a finished product as a wavfront object in Carrara.
ecksile
That will work as well. Just make sure that the file type keeps all its data. Sometimes data is lost as .OBJ
