ArchiveInvalidation problem

The Invalidator I mean. And my problem is that I just don't get it and never have. I have the program saved in my Fallout 3 folder, and point it towards my Data folder, it finds like 2011 files, makes an ArchiveInvalidation text with only 10 items or so, and none of the retextures I've downloaded work. textures flash and turn into other textures and what not.

I read that on Vista (I'm on Windows 7) problems can occur when Fallout is installed into the program files folder (tho it's installed in my program files (x86) folder as I'm running 64-bit). But I also had this problem on XP. What am I doing wrong??

in my documents theres a map called my games ..in there..fallout3- and fallout3 ini in that map..find these line(s)

there has to be a 1 instead of 0. if theres a 0 you probably didn't activate it.

you can also fill in these lines but be sure to make a backup from the original..

bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1(-----this line i mean---)

bUseArchives=1

SArchiveList=ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa

the lines beneath them let you know that its activated.

by the way..it's a bsa file inside the data folder the invalidator ..you activate it with fomm. and thats the only thing you have to do.

Even though it isn't really required, any time I install a new mod (or mods), I disable and the re-enable archive invalidation. As a note: from my understanding the included .bsa forces the game to look in the Data folder and subfolders ... and thus find the resources.

Alright so it's not the invalidator I'm using. It's called invalidatED. Not sure what the difference is.

I've edited my .ini. And I manually put the .bsa in my Data folder. But now it crashes before gameplay on loading screen. If I deactivate it in FOMM it runs but does the same problems I had originally with the textures. With it activated, it crashes.

uhm..not knowing if this will work..you pointed it manually in there.(by draggin it?).if so ..try this one.. get it out of there..install it again and let the install do the job..

(click the setup and give the place location)bethesda softworks- fallout 3 - data folder.

if im right then you also see the other bsa files.

sorry for my english, dutch and haven't seen class for 26 years. :confused:

and then offcourse activate it with fomm

I really appreciate your help, but I only did it manually after I made this thread, and the installer version had failed me. As I said, I managed it with Oblivion and I can't for the life of me figure out what my problem is with this..

ok.. i meant to reinstall it. sometimes things don't work right the first time you install it.. had a problem myself with blender.

when i reinstalled it it work as it should be.

maybe you already done this.

but if not then maybe you should try it. make the line i said before back to 0 before you do. install and activate. so you can check in that folder if it worked.

it should change to 1 automaticly.

if not than the problem deffinitly lies in the archive invalidation.
