Help for a newcomer

I just got in to Oblivion again and I wanted to mod it out so it looks a bit nicer like I did with Fallout3...however I can't get the majority of the mods I get to work in game :(

I see these screen shots of attractive models with amazing textures and such....but I can't get them to show up in my game when I try to play.

Is there a step by step instruction manual somewhere, because the installation instructions on most of these mods are terribly vague.

HG EyeCandy Body <-- Those screen shots are what I'm talking about....the awesome hair and faces that don't look just aweful like in vanilla Oblivion.

Hello Aubins,

First I think HGEC only changes the body. Beware, most of the sceenshots from the mod shows characters with faces, hairs, clothes and sometime skin texture from other mods.

Now here is a guide that will be very useful for a total beginner if you have the time to read it through

Construction Set Wiki - Mod user guide

If you have further questions try to write it down here and I or a more experienced member than me will try to answer you. You can PM me if needed.

Good luck.

the computer is fine....i can max out detail and resolution and the game runs smooth as silk....its just that I cant make a character to look anything like theirs...

its not the quality of the picture...its the actual shape of the face....texture....neck length..ect.

some of those picture actually look like the character isnt even from this game

You'd have to have the exact same packages...and those people have a LOT, trust me. They enhance their pictures at the end to..and...every graphics card is different. So you have everything on max? All shadows/self shadows/ filtering/texture-size resolution inside and outside the game? Then you'll get close enough. Don't understemiate what kind of rigs and settings they use...they don't soley use the oblivion-settings but also those of the graphics themself. (Like AA, AAA and AF)

As said, a lot of screens are photoshoped.

gotchya gotchya. I was just wondering if there was a face remodeler or something...or just a trick to get the faces to look a certain way...because no matter what, all the faces i make just look ugly and old, even with new textures and such to smoothen out the lines on the face

practice, practice, practice.I learned by letting the face generator make one till I found one I like and then began tweaking it from there.
