theLeeHarvey
Can somebody recommend a conversion program to me so that I can convert a .psd file with many different layers into a .dds file? I appreciate your feedbackLeeHarvey
c2552
Try this plugin. You can look up the right settings for exporting somewhere on the int3rwebZ ;)
spammster
yep, thats the plugin, just open up the file and use save as. that plugin also gives you the ability to edit DDS directly in PS
theLeeHarvey
I don't have photoshop though, it's quite a ways beyond my price range so I use GIMP and Paint.net, but GIMP cannot export a .psd file with multiple diverse alpha layers into a .dds format. c2552
ah, I thought you're using PS because of the .psd, didn't know GIMP can import themI think it will be hard to find a psd-to-dds program, since if there's a .psd, there is very often a version of PS
theLeeHarvey
Yeah thats one of the limitations of GIMP. It can import and manipulate .psd files, but it can't export them to certain formats. I searched Google and found what looks like some conversion programs, but I don't know if any of them are good or will actually work, so that's why I am looking for recommendations. I figure that with as many modders as this community has, someone would know of a decent program to suit my purposes.
roquefort
Have you tried DDS Converter 2? http://www.filefront.com/3577988/DDS-Converter-2-1.0/ It will read PSD format (among others) and export DDS. Whether it will read multi-layers I don't know, but you could always combine layers prior to saving couldn't you? (EDIT later: Ah, it looks as if you need to save in layers. Don't know then, but worth a try surely?)

theLeeHarvey
Does it require online registration? If so I can't use it. I don't have an internet connection at home. ( I'm a poor man :( )
