bben46 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Just deleting all Oblivion files still leaves several entries in the Windows registry. They are removed when you use the DVD to uninstall - but not if you just delete everything. When the installer sees these registry entries, it 'assumes' Oblivion is already installed and stops. Try making a dummy file named Oblivion.exe in the folder you originally had the game installed. In XP this is usually C:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. Then try running the uninstall from the dvd. If that dosn't work try the FREE uninstaller REVO available here: http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html Be careful what you remove as it can remove almost anything, including things you don't want removed. Or, if you cannot do that, you may have to manually edit your registry. - not recommended unless you actually know what you are doing in the registry. Or get someone who does know what they are doing to do it for you. First back up your registry - very important as if you do something wrong, you could lose everything and you computer will be unbootable. The technical term is BRICKED - as if instead of a computer you have a brick. Use the find command to find and delete every Oblivion entry DO NOT delete anything else.
