Idiot in need of technical assistance!

Hello!

I am currently working on a mod compilation to enhance realism, to add content and basically enhance the gameplay of it. So far, the compilation kicks arse, it's awesome fun to play.. But I've encountered a problem.

When I start the game, it runs ever so smoothly, which is surprising when you consider the astounding amount of mods I've included. There's no stability issues - at all - except one little thing;

After I installed FOOK and that Destruction mod, the game freezes when I quickload. Quicksave works well, though. I tried removing them, but the freezing had come to stay. Tried removing several mods in FOMM, with no results. I've also tried to rearrange the mod sequence, but there seems to be no difference whatsoever.

The list is as follows:

Can any of you guys with better science skill than me see any errors in this?

Quoted for emphasis: Only the quickload function is screwed. Everything else works. Please don't judge me, I know I am a newb when it comes to this stuff =)

Hugs, kisses and red hot plasma death.

Wow.. That's one proper novel of a documentation.. Can't say I look forward to this..

Still, thanks :)

The Web-enized by csb version of Miax's great guide should be out in the next day or so. But really, it's not as bad as it looks :) ... The screenshots make learning FO3Edit a less daunting task. Stick with it, the reward of conflict-free mods and less crash-prone Fallout3 is well worth the effort.

Definitely :)

Thanks, you guys!

EDIT: No real errors were ever found, except from those in The Pitt, which doesn't really do anything. After some googling, it seems it is a quite common FOOK2 thing, which for some reason persists even when it gets disabled.. Hmm.

How very annoying, tbh

This idiot is still in need of technical assistance.

I can usually work my way around the computer, but this time, I just can't seem to fix it properly.

After I installed FOOK2, with the slightly annoying problem that loading game while in session freezes the game, I decided to remove it altogether. After all, this means you have to ALT-F4 as soon as you get shot, and when you play on Very Hard with mods that escalates the difficulty, it goes without saying that you are bound to catch one bullet too many a few times. The game also freezes when you die, when the game tries to load the last save, see.

I'll take it from the start:

Well.

I've added a lot of mods, which worked nicely. Then, I wanted to try adding FOOK2 into the mix, which started the afforementioned problem. First, I tried to use Fo3edit, which told me that there were no errors, save for The Pitt, which has been there all along, and worked. I decided to uninstall it. Problem persisted.

Then, I said to myself, "fudge it," and uninstalled/reinstalled everything, right down to the FOMM and savegame manager. Then, I had a nice, cold bottle of reboot, and reinstalled it all again, without FOOK2 this time.

Problems are still there.

I haven't played for days now, since I can't be arsed ninja-pressing ALT-F4 everytime i catch a slug with my teeth, since death is not uncommon at that difficulty. I'm getting the shakes, I wanna pop raider heads! Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

EDIT:

Sorted. Seems it just toasted my savegames. Guess I'll just make a new character instead of trying to solve this :)

Even with FO3Edit's automated merge patch, you really need to go through afterward and expand everything. You'll find conflicts, trust me. The majority of them will be the non-fatal kind, but it only takes one, right? :D

I always save to new slots. Had bad experiences back with Oblivion when over-writing saves over previous slots. There are also mods that bloat your saves and eventually they become unusable. Now there's a worthy thread: Mods that bloat save games. :D

Anyway, good luck with the re-re-re-install and with your new character.

Btw, the Web-enized version of Miax's Guide is now up.
