Crash to Desktop and Load Order

Hey all,

I am having trouble with the game randomly crashing in the wastelands mostly and in combat as well. I have tried a bazillion things. I've been trying to fix this for weeks. I don't have problems with other games crashing.

System Spec:

Windows 7 64 bit build 7600.

ATI 4600 1 GB with catalyst 9.9

6 GB RAM (tested for memory errors)

Dual Core Athlon 4000+

Fallout 3 1.7 with all addons

I've tried:

-Changing load order multiple times based on suggestions from each mod recommendations.

-Klite codec pack with ffdshow disabling fallout3.exe

-Disabling uneeded apps

-Fo3edit Merge and Fo3edit Master update

-Fo3edit guide for finding conflicts, but finding conflicts is not explained very well IMO. It doesn't really explain which ones to worry about.

-FOSE is latest version

-3GB Enabler for expanding memory

-Casm (alternate save system)

-Games for windows uninstall and fake dll replacement

-Others that I can think of now

Here is my load order

I also have higher res terrain, rocks, hires weapons, exnem body replacer and some other texture improvements.

My game runs smooth when it runs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update:

Tried FOMS 2 (an automatic sorter) and it sorted my list quite a bit. That didn't help though.

Looking in FO3edit I have very little conflicts now, but still crash to the desktop.

I have all but given up on this and I don't have nearly the ammount of mods that some poeple do.

I'll look into FO3edit again as it seems that's what everyone says to do, but my merge patch has little conflicts.

Even a "little" conflict can be fatal. The automated merge patch procedure provides a great start ... but it isn't the be-all and end-all. It provides a good start to the mod conflict resolution process.

The best combination is to use Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM, by Timeslip) in conjunction with FO3Edit. Switching load orders and running the conflict filter is not very time-consuming. After some practice, it is almost second-nature as you acquire a feel for how different mods impact others.

You can get the latest version of Miax's great FO3Edit guide at Web-enized by csb ... :whistling: okay, so I'm tooting my own horn a bit ... but really, Miax's work, whether in Web format or his original Word document format is what matters -- it's a must-have for any serious FO3 gamer or modder.

and of course theres Windows 7 and then the x64 as well, I dunno why, but a lot of games seem to have issues with 64bit OS (dunno why, most games kinda demand that you have 4 GB of RAM (to run well), so they should be programmed for 64bit OS and be compatabile to x86 and not the other way round, cause who really calls himself a gamer and uses a 32 bit OS? )

but yeah FOMS2 and FO3Edit should be your best bet.
