Matoyak
***Boring background bit. You can skip if you want***OK, a bit of background: I had Oblivion for the xbox 360 and poured about 400 hrs into it (It was the only video game i had from February 2005 until January 2006). Well, about a month and a half ago, someone broke into my dorm room and stole my 360 and all my games for it. I was sad. (understatement) Anyways, I decided to buy Oblivion for my laptop as I was going into video game withdrawals (just kidding). Anyways, the point is, this is the first computer game I have owned that wasn't a game designed for windows 1998 (Sonic MegaPack, if anyone was curious). While doing some research about the PC version of Oblivion I ran into information about Mods... Well, one thing led to another and I have spent 5+ hrs researching these mods...and have yet to get the ones I would like to work operating. (I am not very good with computers....) This leads up to my question...***Boring stuff done*** ***Important stuff starts here***EDIT: Apologies, forgot to include vital information. I run Windows Vista x64 Bit Home Premium. I have Oblivion Game of the Year edition, with Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. So I am following the steps presented on this website: FCOM Quickstart GuideI get to the part where it says to install Wrye Bash, and the website it sends me to refuses to load. That is, the official website for Wrye Bash does not exist anymore, it seems... I have searched throughout the internet to get to this website to no avail. So I decided to download it from the Nexus here. Unfortunately the download here gives me a zip file. My problem is, I have no idea how to go from here. Where do I extract this to? When I attempted to just extract to the default and searched through the files, there was not an executable file, or any file extension that I felt comfortable messing with. I have no idea what to do from here. I would like to get FCOM running well before going into any other mods considering what I have learned about the overhaul mods contained within FCOM. I have also read the tutorial here in this forum about modding in general, just an FYI.Anyways, thank y'all in advance for all y'all's help. :thanks:
Nexus Set
Unfortunately, the website for Wrye Bash is currently down. However, there is a complete copy of the documentation (same as the website) included in the Wrye Bash download for reference. Just look for the Wrye Bash.html file. from Wrye Bash documentation.Get and Install • Download and run Wrye Python • Select all components, then select the temporary install directory and click "Install". Upon doing so, installers for selected components will be unzipped and run in sequence. It's best to accept the default settings for each installer. • Note: This is not part of Wrye Bash itself – rather it is a bundled installation of python and related libraries that Wrye Bash is built on top of. You should only need to install this once. For more infos, se Python Components. • Download and Unzip Wrye Bash XXX.zip • Unzip the files into your Oblivion installation directory. If you've done this correctly, you'll find bash.py and other bash files under Oblivion\Mopy. • Note: This is the actual Wrye Bash code/application. It updates fairly frequently, but is small and easy to install. • Upgrading • If you're upgrading from an older version of Wrye bash, then just get the last Wrye Bash XXX.Zip file from Wrye Musings and unzip to Oblivion directory. There's no need to remove anything or reinstall any python components. Windows Vista • On Windows Vista, the UAC (User Account Control) protects the Program Files directory (usually c:\Program Files) against write by regular users. This can be a problem for Bash and other mod editing and management tools (TESCS, TES4View, OBMM). • Best Solution: Install Oblivion to somewhere other than under the Program Files directory. (E.g, install to c:\Games\Oblivion). Such an alternate directory is not subject to UAC control and won't have the same access and virtualization problems that the default install will have. • Alternate Solutions: Alternatively, you might always run as admin, or turn off UAC – but both of those approaches are ill-advised. For more advice, see the Unofficial Help page at UESP. Starting Wrye Bash • Double click the "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw" file. • Launching from another location: • You can drag "Wrye Bash Launcher" to your Quick Launch toolbar. OR... • In Explorer, copy "Wrye Bash Launcher", then go to the other location and use "Paste Shortcut".
