can anyone break down EXACTLY.. like..step by stepy, by the second how to install mods and stuff..especially ones with textures and stuff..i cant get the cs lightsaber mod to work right or other things..

1. Download and install Fallout mod manager(Fomm) Link->Fallout mod manager

Download 7-zip-you will need it to unpack archives Link->7-Zip Archive Utility at Nexus

2. Extract mod by using 7-zip to fallout/data folder.

I will give you example with perks collector mod  link->Perks Collector

Perks collector will add to your data folder this-

Folders-meshes,textures,sound and perks.collector.esp

If that's in you data files everything is ok.

3. As now you have one mod that has folders textures, meshes and

sound in data folder, every next mod with same folders will

have to replace ones that are already in your data folder.

To do this just extract new mod to data folder and you will

be asked to replace them, click yes to all.

Same thing with next one.

4. Some mods are packaged with additional folder...when you

open archive with 7-zip and you see first folder named

data, you will have to extract that one to Fallout 3 folder

(it should replace data folder)

Also some people are adding another folder(mod name)...

In that case best way to install it is to open new

folder on desktop and extract mod to that folder.

Then open that folder, find folders (textures,

meshes, etc) copy them, go to data folder and click

paste.

5. Open fallout mod menager and click option toggle invalidation

(very important, without it custom textures won't work).

Now just activate mods you want to play and click Launch fallout

for lightsaber mod you must also have Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) Download it

and just extract everything to fallout3 main folder.Start game with FOSE exe

okays but other mods have mesh folders and thinggys too do i rename them and put them in there or open them? ^^;

Don't rename anything. If the mod you're extracting has a mesh folder, and a mesh folder already exists, that's fine. All that means is that it will add the new files you're extracting to the mesh folder you have. This is what you want to happen.

The only exception would be is if the actual files themselves (not the folders) are the same name as the ones that are in your mesh folder now. That means the files you are extracting will overwrite the ones that are in there now. That's fine too, if that's what you want.

but if you didn't understand that second part, just ignore it, I'm pretty sure you're fine.

No,try like this- copy new mods meshes folder, go to data folder and click paste,if you already

have mesh folder you will be asked to replace meshes folder that you already have in

data, just click yes to all(it wont replace anything, it will just add files to meshes folder)
