Aurasoma
So basically I f*#@ed up my last install of Oblivion and had to start all over from scratch. I did the full uninstall where you removing EVERY THING. Deleted all my save games and powered down the system. Then I rebooted it up launched steam and told it to install Oblivion once again. Now here's the kicker. At the main menu I tell it to start a new game, Then while the intro is playing I run to answer the phone. Only to come back to (drum roll please) a crash report. So I try it again. Main Menu, new game, Intro, CRASH! Now I try to delete the oblivion folder in my documents. Launch game, new, CRASH!! Next I have steam verify the game integrity and nothing new. Launch, new game, CRASH!!! Turn off the PC. Boot system, Start windows, start new game (say it with me) CRASH!!!! Now this is with out mods, Yes I have the GotYDeleuxe edition, but the only ESP on all this time is the Oblivion.ESM [sI].Most of those DLC's I end up putting in a folder marked Unused EPS's because I don't see myself needing ThievesDen, Frostcrag or BattleHorn when there are so many wonderful player homes out there. As for programs I did install the latest OBSE, Wyre Bash and OBMM while the verification was going on and still nothing seems to work right. As its last I'm just uninstalling and putting a reinstall off till tomorrow when I hope some one can respond to this problem.
discovery1
Hi, I dont have a steam version of oblivion so dont really know what goes on with a oblivion steam install. The only thing i can suggest is that the game may have fragments on the registry after you uninstalled it. I did find this with skyrim and had to purchase a system cleaner which did the trick. Aurasoma
Thought of that the first time. When I do an uninstall I do my best to completely remove the game from my system. I even go as far as to remove BOSS, Wrye Bash and OBMM in case some fragment of the last issue was still there. The only thing I keep are old game saves on a second computer. This is done so I can port faces of my characters to the new games using Wrye Bash. Seeing as I could not even start a new game I don't think that was the issue. Update 6:00 pm 4/12/2014The re-reinstall looks to be working.Last time I skipped step one make sure the game worked and went to step three add those three programs listed above. It was after that the I Launched the game and saw the crash issue. Could have been because of the download being bad or one of those on top of a bad download. Or it could be because I had old versions of those on file to use when I do a new install. Honestly I some times feel like a complete f***ing n00b when I skip a small test window like that. But when its a game you enjoy you want to get at it as fast as you can right?
