SBULTRA
The mods for clothing, armor and etc that are in a chest in certain areas do not appear... ever. They tell me to go here, do this, but no matter what i do or where I go, there is no chest to be found. Not even that, alot of mods arent working. I'm installing them correctly. For example Luchaires Neck Seam Concealer does not work. The readme says when the game is loaded and what not, they should be added to my inventory. They do not. Its mostly the mods with new equipment that do not work for me. I am running the first version of Oblivion. Could that be the problem> Do I need to patch? Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks

malonn
Which version of Oblivion are you using? I don't know the details of the mods you are running, but a lot of mods require the 1.2 patch.
SBULTRA
Which version of Oblivion are you using? I don't know the details of the mods you are running, but a lot of mods require the 1.2 patch. My game is right off the cd so it hasn't been patched yet. Along time ago when I first got the game, everyone said the official patches ruined the game, so I never got them. Can you recommend what patch to get and not to get, thanks. Pronam
eh? Ruined? You'll be sorry after some time as quests will go stuck, items disappear and freezes. The only things that got out 'the bad way' is a cheat that allowed you to get infinite gold out of something..if you want to cheat you don't need that.Besides, most mods will not work as they will simply not show up in your game...And since half of them are 1.2...you'll miss a lot. There is the Official and the Unofficial patch. The Official patch only got out most of the important bugs, be sure to get the correct version (American or European/Rest of the world)The Unofficial patch changes much more. Decide yourself whether or not to download it.

I found that one out when I tried to install the patches and they stayed at 0% like you describe there... Are you using GotY Edition?
SBULTRA
I am not. I bought this game on release. I've installed these patches before years ago. Now they aren't working and there isn't any help relating to the issue.
bben46
If a mod was made with the latest patch enabled, then it probably will not work on a game without the patch. If you got your game through a download such as D2D, You have to go to them for any patches. The ones at the official site will not work because of the D2D copy protection. Programs like OBSE will probably not work because of the D2D copy protection. If you have a pirate version, sorry about your luck. Don't be so cheap, buy the game. If you have the Game of the Year version, you don't need a patch. To find what version you have, look in the lower left corner on the loading screen. If it shows v1.2.0416 you already have the latest patch. You only need to install the latest patch, v1.2.0416, all of the stuff from earlier patches are included. If you have Shivering Isles, DO NOT use the Oblivion patch, ONLY use the latest Shivering Isles patch. All of the oblivion stuff is included. There is only one English version SI patch for both US & UK versions. If you DO NOT have Shivering Isles, use only the latest Oblivion patch for the language version on your original install disk. Be sure to get your patch from the official Bethesda site where they have FREE patches for every language version, There are 2 English versions, UK & US be sure to get the one that matches your disk. Bethesda site: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm Any mod that requires OBSE will not work if you have the D2D version as OBSE is not and, per the author, can not be made compatible with the D2D version.
