Zenislev
So I've probably been venturing into modding territory that I shouldn't have... Japanese mods. Installing random ones and seeing how they work (because I can't read Japanese even if I wanted to cuz I don't have Japanese text installed) after running into too many problems with them I turned them all off... Only to realize that when I look at some doors and some npcs their names are all strange symbols which can only be explained as my computer failing to interpret Japanese characters - but the CTDs happen when I move to a new area when the pop up that tells me which area I'm now in fails to show up. So my question is - why is it doing this when I have disabled all the Japanese mods and is there a way to revert the vanilla npcs and interior names to english? bben46
Just disabling the esp, or even removing the esp does not remove everything. It leaves behind all of the meshes, textures and other files to cause problems (as you have just learned)To get rid of a mod completely, you must go into each folder and find the left over parts and NO, don't delete them, MOVE them to a holding folder outside of the Oblivion folder in case you try to get rid of something you shouldn't. If you look in the archive (the zipped folder you downloaded - you did keep that didn't you?) you can identify what the mod installed. Some of them may install hundreds of textures or meshes. I had a feeling this would be the only possible solution but I was hoping for another. I made a little progress but now I only seem to CTD upon loading any new area, but I'll try your idea - if only I didn't go through so many mods without noticing the CTDs...
