Sti3ld3rby69
I recently moved my Fallout 3 destination to a folder on my hard drive, not in Program Files, so that I could use Archive Invalidation Invalidated! I have the Steam version, and everything SEEMED to go through smoothly. My FOOM works, but when I open it up with FO3Edit it says: "Fatal: Could not open registry key: \SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\" Any help with this problem? I have the most current versions of everything.

mooncarver
did you copy-pasted fallout into a different folder or actually uninstalled and then reinstalled the game?
csb
FO3Edit goes by the registry install location (the Windows registry error that FO3Edit gave you). If you moved it manually, you'll have to either: Reinstall as suggested above, but then you face the the same dilemma with the registry. Use Window's regedit (in Vista, click the Start icon lower left, select Run... and type in regedit and enter. Be very, very careful what you change in regedit! It is best to back up your registry before poking around in it! Search for "Fallout" in regedit (use F3/Ctrl-F to advance through the registry). Find the registry value FO3Edit was complaining about and change the install path to reflect where you manually moved your game directory to. I have the most current versions of everything. I had the same problem after having to reinstall Fallout3 via Steam, I found a solution: Run the FalloutLauncher.exe that is in the Fallout 3 folder. If this is the first time you've run it, it will check your video hardware. After it's done just close the launcher and try FO3Edit again. Worked for me. Hope this helps.
