ADS

Ok, I understand not everyone can afford to run a website, complete with Downloads and forums, but for $#@! sake, do they have to "wake the dead" with the ever so annoying Music and Idiotic Blathering?

What ever happened to browsing in peace?

Oh and there's a trojan in one of the ads too!

Which ads are annoying? And which one has a trojan? A screen pic may help identify them, but is usually not required.

It's kind of difficult to fix when we don't know. Also, some ads are targeted to certain countries and are not seen in others.

Some of the ad people like to change the ad you agreed on to something more obnoxious.

Dark0ne swats them down when he catches them.

The virus makers have begun using what start out as legitimate ads, then after a few days adding in their evil package of virus or spyware. There is a long list of reputable sites that have been caught by this trick.

Yeah, it can happen to the best of them. I have had a really bad trojan randomly installed while browsing TESNexus. I'm not sure whether or not it stemmed from the site, though. It may have just been latent in my machine or something. But it was terrible. The computer ran so slow, and it disabled McAfee Security Suite! Oh, and Sparks, it's generally not a good idea just to go clicking and following ads. Before visiting a site, it's a good idea to check the domain's review at www.siteadvisor.com.

Also, when ads pop up on your screen (I'm not sure whether these particular ads you mentioned do pop up, or if they are just located on the webpage) you should close it with the Task Manager, rather than clicking on the ad box. This is because sometimes clicking on the box (even the exit button) will take you to the site hosting the ad, which is often a malicious site. Also, you should put more information in future complaints.

Ah, but here's the scrape.......all I did was refresh a page in the mods section, and my AV went berserk, warning me of an infected webpage.

As for those ads, I couldn't tell you which ad it was that caused the near miss, but it's in here somewhere.

and no, I don't click on ads, I just refresh the page to reload a different ad, hopefully one that doesn't scream in my speakers.
