Fallout: Hawaii Mod Idea (For anyone interested)

Below is my original message I left on GameFAQs, I do not know how to mod, I'm not very good at that kind of stuff. If someone is good and wants to take this idea and run with it, I'm all for it, I'd love to see it a reality.

I’ve had this idea for a Fallout game set in Hawaii for so long. Of course it will never happen, but hey, a boy can dream.

What I like the best of this, is Bethesda (or whoever) would make this game could have barriers that were actual barriers (the ocean/mountains) instead of the “barriers” in Fallout 3/New Vegas. Instead of thinking, why couldn’t they put more stuff beyond that ridge, you would be “Oh right, there’s a flipping ocean right there so I can’t go any further.”

The main game could take place on Oahu, since it is the “main” island, but the later DLC could expand to say the Big Island (Island of Hawaii), Kauai, Maui, Molokai, or Lanai.

You could have different factions and different enemies.

Different irradiated animals.

Mainly boars though as that’s the main problem.

The game could start off on the island of Hawaii since it is the largest, but population wise it would be kind of small. Exploring would be neat as you could go to places such as Hilo, Waipio Valley, Kona, Akaka Falls, Kilauea (the volcano), Ka’u, Kohala, Waimea, etc.

You could even go up Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

Getting ambushed by Raiders, or whatever, on Saddle Road would be intense.

Honolulu would be the more logical choice as there are more buildings to explore, more people to meet, kill, befriend, what have you, but honestly it is too clustered together. I would like it, but not for a whole game location.

Don’t get me wrong, Oahu has other places such as Kailua, Laie (Mormon Temple is over there so you could get some Honest Hearts references), Punchbowl, multiple military installations, there are also tiny little towns and villages scattered throughout the state, you have Pearl Harbor of course, and also Aloha Stadium would be neat to explore in a game.

Like I mentioned, this would not happen probably, but it is an interesting idea, as this would be a prime location for a Fallout game, especially during the Chinese-U.S. War in the 21st Century.

So much to freaking see and do.

Of course, give me your thoughts and insights.

  • 4 months later...

Ayyyy, girl living in Hilo here. My dad had the exact same idea when we moved here. If I can brush up on my modding skills, and build a team, I'd SO be down to do that, though I'd only be good working on the Big Island, since that's the only one I've been to, save for Oahu but I was either a nine-month-old or never left the airport.

That would be incredibly awesome.
