No Broken Steel - No Level Cap Message. REALLY NEED HELP!

I recently bought a retail copy of Broken Steel and Point Lookout. I installed as instructed, the patch 1.6 first and then the games. I fired up Fallout 3. Within 30 seconds I got the Point Lookout message telling me a boat was waiting near Rivet City. Great. 5 hours later no message telling me my level cap is now at 30 like it should be, hence I am still stuck at level 20 with MAX XP still present.

I uninstalled the files, installed the 1.7 patch, installed the games again, checked the data files, both were checked/ticked and fired it up again. 30 seconds later, Point Lookout and again no Broken Steel message appears.

I have no mods installed and all the data files are present in the Fallout 3 folder. I have followed numerous "fixes" and nothing seems to be wrong at all with what I have done. I have contacted Bethesda which was a total waste of time. I just got a long email that was copy and pasted from there websites helplist telling me everything I told them I had already done.

I have read that it can take a while to start up Broken Steel but I have played the game for at least 10 hours since I bought these add ons and still no message.

If anybody knows what I am doing wrong please help me!!

Make sure that Broken Steel loads after your other DLC master files (.esm) in Fallout Mod Manager. That way, your level cap doesn't get overwritten.

Also, if you are running mods, you may have a conflict that is causing that.

You'll need FO3Edit by ElminsterAU and Miax's great FO3Edit Guide - Web-enized on how to find and resolve mod conflicts.

OK CSB that TOTALLY worked!

I don't quite understand why, but I downloaded Fallout Mod Manager and opened it up. Broken Steel was not checked in the list even though it was in the Date Files etc. Like I said everything else was as it should be.

Thank you so much, I'll be sure to send some hookers, beer and other goodies to your house as a payment...but I don't know who you are. So I guess I'll just say thanks again!

I have no idea what happened with all of that but if *ban* worked!!

Thank you so much.

:thanks: for the offer for well, umm ... all the guy-oriented celebratory things. I'm just glad it helped.
