Would anybody be interested in a Hearthfire mod for NV?

You mean a mod something like this.? http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54915/?

Maybe, I just skimmed the description (didn't install it) of the mod, but some aspects are similar. The highlights I was thinking are multiple homes in big (big for a depopulated post apocalyptic setting) settlements like skyrim, and built up in a way that allows significant customization via the players choice (either by paying caps or retrieving items). But not the Wife/kids theme.

There are two basic ways to go about this - and you could actually do both in the mod.

1. There are many unused structures in various locations around the wasteland. You could have your character take one and recondition it to their liking - The mod would allow reconditioning say one building in Freeside, or one in North Vegas, or Goodsprings, or anywhere there is an unused building of any kind already.

2. The mod adds damaged buildings to various locations and you get the option to open one up and work to improve it.

Many buildings are close enough where you could use the same base interior rooms. As each step of reconstruction is completed, the base building would be replaced with the upgraded version. Then, after you have a base building, work to improve things - find a working refrigerator in the wastes and move it to your kitchen, a stove, sink. A bed, bedside table, Bathtub, replace that broken toilet with a good one. Use the plunger to fix a plumbing problem.

You will need a basic set of tools to work on your house - Hammer, saw, ax, nails, sledgehammer ( for demolition ) Nail-gun? Shovel. Maybe use a ripper as a power saw?

Step 1 - get in - may require removing some boards from the door and maybe finding a key. Step 2, clean up the trash & remove debris. Step 3 repair the first room. clean walls, floor and ceiling ( replace damaged with clean textures) Find a mattress and drag in in to sleep on until you have a real bedroom, cook outside over a campfire. Build an outhouse?

I leave the rest of the details to you.

When I've read the topic, I was already imaging my future marriage in some improvised mojave church of atom... with dean domino sealing my promise of love... and maybe also adopting the child that chases the rat, so he could start eating something more healthy...

... but then I've read your post and no, it's not about this. Awww...

Yeah some fun ways to go about it.

Not to mention we have the lucky 38's MO for customizing. I'd like to create a few along the same lines in alternate casino's (a room you buy in the tops, the ultra lux, vault 21 etc). Those of course would already have their themes, but customizing them could enhance and amplify the iconic qualities of each location. For instance in vault 21 shelling out some caps (or possibly fetch related quests) could get you additional vault related tech (my first chemistry set, maybe even your own Mr. Handy aka wadsworth). For the Ultra lux it could be extravagant furnishings (old world masterpieces to hang on the wall for instance). All things that would really tie into the character of the location and be reflected in your room (or a whole floor).

But most of all I'd like input on where players would like a home. See a great picturesque peak that should have a settlers shack. Have a favorite casino you'd like to have a second home in? Perhaps one of the smaller towns are your preference? I'd love feedback on what locations people would like to make their own.

Yeah a wife and kids would be cool  Although I'd suggest keeping Dbag Dean away from any nuptials, he doesn't have the best track record.

What would be cool is if you were able to get permission to work with a mod like Chucksteel's Lucky 38 penthouse mod...

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54049

Kind of like, strip out all the stuff thats not living room/bedroom furniture, give the player the opportunity to open up these new rooms and stock them with the machining equipment/ medical equipment, install an armoury, add extra trophy capabilities, etc....

Just spitballing here ofc, it is a good resource; it could be a good place to start from (plus I think MOST players sort've use the L38 as their main base, it makes sense to upgrade that imo). He's also done the Tops and Gomorrah too though, if that was more up your street.

It's just my opinion, but I think this building should be on the strip, it just makes more sense than being out in the wastes.

Would anybody be interested in a Hearthfire mod for NV? If you havn't played the dlc it lets you add amenities, new rooms, a trophy room etc to some set locations to create a more detailed player home. I think there are a lot of locations in NV that could qualify for the mod.

would it require the hearthfire addon for skyrim to work (so bethesda doesnt give a cease and desist in the chance it might cost them sales for that skyrim DLC or something ?)

using an abandon building in boulder city, or even in Freeside might be a good option since so many locked doors

Sure, any themes to a potential house in those two areas that might interest you. I'm essentially trying to determine what kind of house (atmosphere, furnishing etc) setting as well as locations might be popular.

No, there are no dependencies, legal, logistical, etc that would require the skyrim dlc.
