Help with Shortcuts

I'm trying to make it so that I can play mods i like on my name and my bro can play his mods on his name with no interference between the two. Earlier i recieved advice to copy the Oblivion folder into 2 locations, one for me and one for my bro, and change our respective shortcuts to lead to our personal folders. The problem is, i cant get it to work right. It seems like the shortcut is leading to my new folder, but the Oblivion Launcher in that folder isn't picking up the mods in that Data folder. Its just showing plain old vanilla Oblivion in the Data Files. How can i get this to work right?

I ran into a similar problem when I wanted to mod a clean unmodded Oblivion, but play one that was fully modded on the same computer.

Bethsoft made it impossible to actually have 2 copies working on the same computer. So, I had to devise a work around. The reason it is impossible is when you install Oblivion, it puts entries in the Windows registry that refer to a particular copy of Oblivion in a specific place. Installing it in a new place will just replace those entries and point to the new copy making the original useless.

Here is a link to my dual Oblivion article.

For use by 2 different people you may have to make some adjustments - such as renaming the separate versions. The playflag/csflag could be renamed to Bobflag and fredflag (assuming your name is Bob and your brother is Fred). And you will definitely want to add the OBMM part to each one.

Needless to say, I haven't tested this in your particular use. If you do decide to go this way please let me know how it works out, and a copy of your bat files would help.

Another possible but untested idea is to put the data and other files on a USB for each user, and have the base game installed on the Hard drive.

A third alternative is to have a dual boot system, XP and Vista, or Vista and Win7. Where Bob boots up on XP and Fred uses Vista.
