Frankalank
i recently uninstalled oblivion because my game was crashing everytime i cast a spell or shot an arrow, so i decided to just start over and delete my saves because they werent loading and crashed whenever i tried to load them. So i started a new game, and i still cant load saves from it! WTF?! i tried to patch it but it said "old file not found but a file of the same name was found" or something like that. So i checked and it said that i was on the version that i just tried to patch, so i thought to myself "maybe it patched it afteralll" I am using a steam version of Oblivion so i dont have a cd for it. Im on windows xp. Heres my mod order:HorseCombatMaster.esmOblivion.esmNo psychic guards v1.2.espVampireCurePotions 1.0.esp_Ren_BeautyPack_full.espBorder Removal.espRealisticForceMedium.espc_dagcol.espBow Crash Fix.espExnemEyeCandy.espExnemEC_Rogue01.espExnem Leather Iron Warrior.espGlenvarCastle.espNecromancer Shop.espDeadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.espDeadlyReflex 5 - Combat Moves.espImpeREAL City Unique Districts - All the Districts - Merged.espserpentdagger.espAkatosh Mount By Saiden Storm.esp Please help, i am soooo confused and frustrated and it seems i have spent more time trying to fix oblivion than actually having fun with it. :thanks:
bben46
If you try to install a patch that is already installed that is the message you get. What is your current installed version? - look in the lower left corner on your start up screen to find it. Did you remember to reinstall OBSE? malonn
Always, always load Oblivion.esm first. Adjust you LO and see of that helps any. It may not.
Frankalank
bben46, i tried to install the 1.2.0416 patch, but it said "file not found, although a file of the same name etc..." so i checked if i was on the old version but it said in the bottem left corner "1.2.0416, so i figured it worked, but i think that it only installed part of the patch.I dont know why i got that message, on OBSE, it said i need version "1.2.0416" so i figured i needed to install it, even though i thought i had the latest version because i have GOTY, but i dont have SI installed.I just reinstalled OBSE, but no luck, saves still dont work, i have no problem restarting, just as long as i can still play. Frankalank
i cant even start a new game! When i click new game, and yes, nothing happens at all. I could start a new game before i installed the patch, but everything is messed up if i dont install it.
bben46
I missed it - as malonn said - Oblivion.esm MUST be the first thing in the load order. Also, remove deadly reflex for troubleshooting. I have seen too many problems from Deadly reflex not being installed correctly or in the wrong order. Also, it is usually the last thing in the load order. Frankalank
okay, i rechecked the load order correctly and it still didnt work. As i said before, i think it is something to do with the patch, but maybe not, im not good with this. I loaded oblivion.esm first and DR last, same resault
bben46
Remove Deadly reflex, ALL of it. It will make troubleshooting easier.Without the patch many mods will not work. Also, delete your Oblivion.ini file - the one in the folder where the saves were, not the one in the folder where the Oblivion.exe is located. The game will create a new one when you start it again. It would be better to remove all mods, get the game working with the patch, then add the mods one at a time. If nothing else works, Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 It includes the proper installation of the patches. Read it all of the way through before starting it. If you have the D2D version, you must go to the D2D site for the patch. If you have the steam version, it comes with the patch. If you have the DVD version, go to the Bethesda site for the proper patch.
