Psyckosama, all you care about is whether it's 1950's, when it's a game. You are supposed to have fun with games, not just bash everyone that wants to have a little bit of fun by making mods that are actually quite amazing. I don't see how soldiers are moronic either. Also, it seems your whole entire life is based around fallout, I will leave no comment after that.

Well said SWAT, now would anyone like to object to that?

I have no objection to it being a mod at all, I just think that their are much better things to be spending time on.

What SWAT said was primarily his view on why whatever people want should be modded, which I totally agree on. What he didn't say was why modern weapons should be modded over that 100s of other great ideas out their that people would like just as much.

I am not saying that the game should not have modern weapons, just that there are more "creative" things for people to spend their time and effort on.

You have a very good point Tony, however, when it comes to creativity for a mod, my mind just goes blank until I reach a conclusion that I want my shotgun to fire mini nukes, then realize that it would be pointless, so I turn to real life objects (or content from another game) that are already cool. The thing is my creativity is little when it comes to mods (Godzilla mod I was thinking about posting a request for, but didn't ;D ).

What the hell are you talking about? The game doesn't even HAVE a .50 cal sniper rifle! :wallbash:

I thought there was a weapon that was a 50cal my mistake. But there is a Mod someone painstakingly made that a lot of people dld because it is one of the top dld's in that section so there are people that like that and if they life that they probably would like this. Opinions and choices are as varied as the people on these forums. Think of how boring the world would be if everyone was of the mind about things, sure it would be great if it was your opinion or your choice but... How many mods are there for FO3? Probably thousands I am pretty sure that not one person has dld'd them all. It was just an idea someone had, some will like it some will not if it ever gets done it will be your choice to dld said mod or not. Could you imagine if you did not hav that choice? Or no mods to dld?

I agree with tony about creativity. But also I say anything modern now would be futuristic to the fallout universe either way at least design wise. I mean come on only 2 assaults rifles ever mass produced through out the entire world? but yet the technology to create power armors and plasma guns and lasers. And yet no advancements in common projectile weaponry? The G33 assault rifle wasn't even out in the 1950s yet there's a weapon that looks much like the G33 in game. As for saying you will allow the desert eagle to pass because it was in the first fallout completely negates your opinion on modern weapons. The desert eagle wasn't even designed until 30 years after the time setting in fallout if they were that advanced in design then any modern weapon in acceptable.

The presence of the Desert Eagle in Fallout was a unveiled joke to the fact that at the time every movie that featured gun play had someone with a desert eagle in it.

As for advancements in common projectile weaponry... make a thematically functional weapons mod that looks "advanced" but also looks retro. The SNIPER RIFLE being the perfect example.

As for the G33... let me spell it out for you: BETHESDA IS LAZY no other excuse. I say the same about the AK. As for only 2 assault rifles in the world... no... but which would you find most commonly in the washington DC area? The current service rifle.

Honesty some modern weapons could work... with some adjustment. Wooden furniture and a battered old look being the main ones. The issue is mostly that they LOOK modern and new in most mods which helps RUIN it.

What you said there just shows that you have no clue how much work goes into makeing such a large and open game world. Bethesda wasn't lazy, but they had to make tradeoffs when they decided they wanted to make a 40+ hour RPG with more replay value than almost any other game on the market, rather than a standard FPS that you can beat in 16 hours top.

The fact is, when makeing games, you have to choose where your priorities lie, otherwise you will never get the game released. There are plenty of things Bethesda would have liked to do, but couldn't because you only get so much time and money to make a game.

Bethesda is lazy. Fact. They use the sandbox to make up for factors, like their vastly inferior plot, writing, and game play. Fallout is not an FPS. Its an RPG. You want to compare it to a game, look at mass effect which has better writing, better acting, better gameplay, and a plot that can't be invalidated by basic wildlands survival techniques.

And yes, the rifle was lazy. There was already a workable Assault Rifle design in the previous fallout art, all they had to do was create something fictional using its aesthetics rather than use a modern rifle as a base. Like what they did with the 10mm and the Combat Shotty.

Like I said, you have no understanding of the game industry, so continueing this discussion would be pointless on both our parts.

as well as very off topic...

I personally have been waiting for someone to release a mod the has Modern US soldier BDU's with the Boron-Carbonite Armor and helmet. While I can see some people don't like Modern technology mixed in with Fallout 3 it should be the freedom of modders to make whatever they want for Fallout 3. I requested a Modernization of Fallout 3 a month ago not because I hate Fallout 3 50's charm, but because I wanted something different. That being said there are many Fallout Nexus members who would like to see some Modern infantry uniforms and armor as much as I would like to see them and in my understanding if you don't like the mod: Don't download it..
