Transparent Munus

Hey i have a great idea for a menu replacement, how about transparent menus, can it be done?, for instants how about having that cool class look in the background inside the menu. So you can see things in the background.

KInd of, but in the menus screen, not the main meu but in game menus. so you can see things happening in the background.

 

example something like windows 7's transparent taskbar :biggrin:

Could it be done?

Not entirely sure it can since the engine doesn't support multiple transparent layers. It's a little noticed fact, but the menu and most hud elements are actually textured mesh planes. Although most of the transparent parts of these are accomplished due to the dxt1 format, which has limited support for overlapping transparency, this transparency is either 0% or 100%. Mixing might work, but would likely be very complicated and probably require high knowledge of the coding used for the menu xml files.
