Download and install the above package, it appears safe to use.

use the ini file as well.

use the executable too, so in all you will have replaced 3 files by my count that shout render the game and not crash.

Because you mentioned you like to mod things, this brings us to full circle, you need to install the garden of creation kit ,and IT needs to update, with the software I am directing you to install, you can now update the geck, once it gets updated, IT will update the executable or should.

here is a the shot for your view.

this was the comparison I did

Leave the stutter bug posts and just reedit them tomorrow, I'll know, no problem was busy waiting on other things to finish any way. kept me busy.

  1. your file shows data for a 64bit rendering system
  2. My file shows a 32bit rendering system
  3. Trial file shows no Dependencies on Either systems software and all 3 of these are just "1" file for all the games that use "32bit" software to run the games, a required file, which you DO not have.

#1 is what you got, sense the game or the installer refused to overwrite your 64bit (d3d9.dll) ,your game will just plain crash out, fallout was never intended to render in a 64bit environment. The software was never written for 64bit anything. So, you are missing required files for the game. it's all really that simple.

Then what am i supposed to do? How do i get the d3d9.dll file that is needed to run the game?

P.D: this file is used in all games? Because if this is the case i dont understand why i can play fallout nv and skyrim

Edit: I already replaced the ini file and the dll file, i installed geck and updated it to 1.5, how do i replace the exe file with geck?

(1.0.0.15) is fallout3.exe, it was required to be in the game folder, even steams game folder in order to be able to update the geck.

Sense you already Have updated the geck this is not a worry, it is (1.1.0.36) updated version

IF you have the 1.7 version of the steam Download sitting in your games directory, then no, you can not update the geck's software as that needs to have the older version there for it to find.

Justins steam version has a piece of code in it that was meant for the Valve steam networks on release date retail, Not updated but still not what was on a retails disc, it was meant for the networks. so when you update it using the retail updater, it should allow you to install the Live updated 32bit software from marketplace.

you have cff explorer correct? that is also called LLA but do not use LLA. you don't require LLA on 64bit system period. So don't break the engine.

use cff on the update and check it for missing files, verify 1.7 coding. check dependencies, match what I have shown you.

that is what you do with the executable.

I am still not sure if windows 8 allows you to install or the installer to install all of dx 9c? the DEV edition has all Direct x software available.

in your control panel, there should be a direct x complication to use to verify direct x software's, if not? then you may need to get the sdk to find out.
