For some parts yes we could just implement them directly to world spaces others wouldn't really fit.

 

Copyright should be fine if we credit any artist and are not profiting from it.

 

I can try and get official Permissions but I see Responses taking years ha ha.

 

Technically we could Edit it and call it something different and it would void copyright same as hip hop artists do.

I checked. It's possible, but there will be a lot of mad max music in the wastes, too.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but you're right-- a radio station would be Easier.

untrue

 

1.

you not profitting from your creation doesnt mean the rights owner doesnt loose money due to your competition

 

2.

crediting the artist is simply a standard but it doesnt replace the need to gain the proper rights

furthermore is credit thought to be given for any input that went into a creation wether it is an influence, an idea, a theory, a piece of sound, a model, etc

 

3.

hip hop musicians do pay for their samples

 

4.

changing original content to become somin new doesnt void the rights, you still base your creation on somebody elses work and hence must pay tribute/royalty

 

5.

its highly unlikely that anyone will sue you for using mad max content but in any way it would be an infringement which could be sued with a hefty fine

anyway let me explain how id go about this project:

 

forget about a total conversion for now, they tend to never get finished, be unstable, and offer less content than the original game in most cases.

id even go so far as to call the mod "inspired by mad max but not a 1 to 1 copy"

 

for one you need the story, i guess it was somin like max's family gets killed, he goes crazy and kills everyone that wears leather jackets and drives on 2 wheels and then goes rampaging through aussiland

 

1. however write up that storyline as compelling as possible with as many game related mechanics included right away so you get an idea what you need to create in regards to assets (think of a movie script,:

player meets npcA, if player has a speechskill above 70 npcA will send player to save pricess zelda, and stuff like that)

 

2. start by creating a "rough" new worldspace (not that many details yet) which you connect to the wasteland somehow, might be a boat to australia for example or a jet somewhere which drops you wherever you want

 

3. create and add the main objects of interst in your storyline (thunderdome-arena, a half-deserted town, whatever you need) - touch up landscape around these places

 

4. create the main characters you need and place them where they belong

 

5. start creating the main quest and hence connecting those locations and npcs with one another and the player

 

6. fill in the space between your locations with sidelocations (raider camps, dungeons, toilet stalls)

 

7. add some small sidequests to these locations and your main locations, possibly linking them together - touch up landscape according to your layout (roads for example)

 

8. add props like trees, rocks, coffee pots all round the place to make it looks believable and finalize the lanscape and clutter(mind polypainting to create gentle shadows around objects on the ground and use different ground textures around the borders of rocks)

 

9. add a bunch of generic npcs to fill out some space (dont forget about merchants, doctors, companions, etc)

 

10. add more random chatter, sidequests, clutter and whatever you might think you need to make it more interesting

 

11. add music or radio if you need it

this is just a general order, sometimes youll jump between these steps of course, for example to fix up some ai packages of your main npcs to use props you added at the end

try not to use DLC content if you dont have to, not every user has them

think about your wish to use vehicles once more, your worldspace will look totally different than without and youll vehicles bring many a new problems with them which you will need to elaborate

as mentioned earlier i wouldnt make 1to1 mad max conversion,

keep the vault traveller as the hero and go from there like:

 

he meets this girl/boy (depends on player sex) in that new place, you flirt, have fun and spend some nights together, game fades to black, "9month later", you have a kid trara, build a home, kid grows a lil through another fade fo example or while the player is doing whatever players do

 

-this could be released as part one of your mod - "a romace down under"-

 

once you leave a certain area around your families homestead raiders raid the place and rape and kill everyone which will be a really good shock effect for the player who just spend hours to build his family and will incite himto play ball with the raiders

 

so the payer gets back finds the bodies and his burned down shaq (disable/enable code), he looks around and dunno how he recognized the perps in the movie right now but he realizes somehow who the vigilanties were and how to find them

 

now he sets out and goes for revenge... might wanna add a raider here which begs for his life and its your descision to give him that or payback... (the force dialogue ai package helps here)

 

-this could be part 2 - "revenge for the heart" -

Excellent Recommendations this is more or less the formula i have been using, all though I've been mapping the streets hills and towns to making it more Aussie based. as we know thunder-dome was made in Afghanistan so there is a small part of the map based on it. we will be going for a more of an Aussie feel as max has always intended.

 

Now with that said I wanted to make it open ended in the sense that fans as player can be max or there player Character. Now this will be based off the 3 movies but it is more like a fourth movie no one is gonna want to watch the movies again they will want to take up there own role among the Mad Max Lore.

 

This will more or less kick off from the 2nd film.

 

I like the family betrayed Idea. as I said nothing is concrete on paper yet and the whole community is able to add so they can see there ideas transform here.

 

As for releasing this puppy I think we will add provinces so you have a world map and we add chunks to it piece by peace.

 

I'm just thinking that no one will want to wait 5 years for a huge mod where as they can try it and play as we develop it.
