The ending of the game

Retribution

It just seems a bit vain that the romances you had with a character from origins is severed without any explanation,

I mean i'm fine with that but

you'd think maybe something would be said about it...

Maybe something IS said about previous companions in the expansion,

but it just seems a little weird for me, you know?

It isn't that your relationship doesn't exist, Alistair could mention it during conversation. References to your companions are stated though out the expansion as stated by BW but romance is out of the question at that moment and time. Plus it is an expansion, there wouldn't be enough dialog to go into a serious relationship. But I am confidant that you will be able to pick up where you left of in the sequel.

I just hope that not all of them have french accents like Leliana. That could get annoying after a while.

By the look of things it wouldn't surprise me if they all have French accent and spoke French, after all Orlais is based loosely around France and their feudal system.

I DO find it odd however, that one of the ONLY characters which DIDNT offer to go with you, or offer you to go with them at the end, is the one that shows up in the expansion as a constant companion.

Maybe it is not Alistair as by the sounds of it doing more administration work than being a constant companion. I think that role is going to Oghren. I'm wondering if BW is going to bring Alistair back in the sequel as a companion depending on your gender or not.

Ok, this is just an opinion here, but to me...I think the intention was for Alistaire to end up marrying Anora for the ending. Granted, yes...they don't really like each other all that well, but considering the longstanding relationship between their ancestry, it wouldnt surprise me if Gaider thought about merging the bloodlines.

I agree with you as Anora is going to make an appearance in the expansion. So is Wynne, Wade, Loghain and Herren, all based on your choices of course.

Heh, I look forward to fighting some of these vaunted Chevaliers :D

Let's fight those Orlesians

I was actually referring to Oghren when I said what I said about the one npc who didnt offer to travel with you, ends up traveling with you again. ;)

Sorry for not clarifying.

The thing about the prior relationships. I agree that there could definitely be some mention of them, but seeing as how Oghren wasnt relationship-possible, and all of the ones that Were, are only making brief appearances, I dont really see how you'd be able to continue on with the relationships as far as the expansion is concerned. That and the news that you wont be exploring new relationships, pretty much affirms what was said about them focusing more on extending the story with the expansion, than they were of building up the romantical aspect of the character.

Maybe they'll be nice and let the femmes have a few snuggles with Al, and us males with Leliana during their appearances?

This has nothing to do with this topic but...

The hurlock that is seen in the trailer is called 'The Withered' and is not The Architect

This is the apparent picture of The Architect

Anyways...

I'll bet by that time Leliana would be striking down those who betrayed her and Alistair would be doing important work. But it would be interesting to see his reactions towards the female warden or his reaction towards the warden after sparing Loghain's life.

You could import a save.

That's what they are doing with Mass Effect 2, I wouldn't bat an eyelash if they did the same with Dragon Age though there's more endings in DA then in ME..

Yes DA has an ambundance of ending possabilities not to mention it appears to be much more advanced then ME in just about everyway.

I do believe that things will pickup from your last save. At the end of my game I still had the love affair with morrigan and vowed to find her, I had also managed to keep my love affair going with leliana despite having kept morrigan and marrying Anora.

So I left off telling Anora that I would leave to find morrigan and I took leliana with me. life in DA is good :)

yea i agree

I spared Loghain, made him a Warden, and watched Alistair storm out. For me and my character, allowing Loghain to live is a matter of uniting Fereldan. As Anora had said, it's more important than petty vengeance.

Sure, the game doesn't give you any terrible consequences for taking Loghain's head off... But if DAO was real, I could see tons of consequences for doing it. He is a legendary hero of Ferelden, and tbh, the only symbol other than the Theirin line that makes Fereldan a united nation. You have lots of accusations against him, but alot of it is either unproven or not universally reviled. He still has a large political fanbase. Many of the nobles didn't want him to be regent... but to KILL him is something else altogether. You kill him, and it looks like a Warden+Alistair+Eamon grab for power.

The best thing to do, for the unity of Fereldan, was definitely to make him a Warden and allowing him to redeem himself in the final battle. It secures Anora's power/reputation, it reaffirms Fereldan's unity, it looks good for the Wardens (who are on dodgy ground in Fereldan, tbh), and it makes Alistair/Eamon look honest.

However, Alistair had to go and throw a massive hissyfit, not only rejecting the marriage arrangement, but also saying some stupid stupid stuff out loud that raised everybody's eyebrows. At that point, I truly understood why he's not the main character, but I am. I had to let him go.

Girls may love that guy, but man... my character was truly disappointed in him right then. I wasn't half this disappointed even when Morrigan stormed out after I rejected her deal.

As for The Architect... personally I hope he's not a "good Darkspawn looking to achieve world peace." I'm not playing this game to have complexity from Darkspawn. Enough WOW bs with the "we were evil because we were mind-controlled boo hoo", let the DS remain as the vile LOTR orcs of DAO, thanks.

Morrigan also "insinuates herself within the Empress' court" if you completely reject her midnight deal.

No matter how much a whiny character Alistair is and how much I'd love to get rid of him .. I am never able to justify, to myself to let Loghain live. I roleplay and really get into the game's story and characters. I'm actually thinking of making a deviate type character and give Loghain a pass.

No matter how many times I try though, my characters always go with the moral choices. My latest character was all about going the werewolf route .... nope, got elves hanging out in my camp :(
