stronglikebear
Apparently, you can't just remove the invisibility effect from the items to remove the visual effect from the stealth field bonus granted by them. Because they're combined into one. I have a perk as well that I can't remove the effect from, that gives me +25% to my stealth field. It's visually abrasive, and I'd prefer to not look like the Predator when I'm crawling around the wastes. I found a fallout.ini edit on tweakguide, to remove all the refraction from the game, which is the source of the chameleon effect. " bUseRefractionShader=1 - This setting controls the shimmery/invisibility effect sometimes used in the game. Setting it to =0 can noticeably boost FPS in areas where this effect is used, such as around invisible characters (e.g. when using the Stealth Boy), or when firing weapons which give off a heat haze (e.g. missile explosions). However obviously this can also ruin realism and prevent appropriate special effects (Fallout.ini). " And that's what I wanted visually, but it made the water, the fog in point lookout, and alot of other things ugly in the process. It turns it off for the whole game. Anyone know how I could go about changing it for just the stealth effects? Edit: If I use the console comand "settargetrefraction" or "str" and use myself as the target, it will set my refraction to zero, but it will go return if I stand and go back into sneak. How would I mod that so it was permanent? Something like this should be really simple but I'm new to modding.
