kleinstaff
Hi I am looking to keep the original 'High Fantasy' Skyrim theme, and am not looking to change the core theme of the game (for want of a better word) on my first playthrough. Rather, I am looking to enrich the vanilla Skyrim world. I am mainly interested in any mods which will: - Improve sound and graphics.- Fix bugs or glitches.- Improve quests (which I read can be overly simplified in the vanilla game)- Enrich the world e.g. by enhancing cities, enemies, spells, quests etc. - Add extra immersion layers giving the player 'more to think about' (e.g. the Frostfall mod) sounds interesting, it seems only correct that I should have to worry about travelling in very cold places).- Increasing difficulty (e.g. Is the game too easy out of the box?) I hope this gives people a better understanding and makes it easier to recommend any mods after that explanation. :smile:if you thinkong on frostfall you have to use realistic needs and diseases they so go well togetheralso you need the winter is comming mod which adds fur cloaks to the gameClimates od tamriel also goes well with those modshunterborn for the hardcore survival gameanother mod you might want to look into is deadly dragonsbalanced magicapocalypse spell packplayer headtrackingenchanted towns and villagesconvienent horsesimmersive weaponsimmersive armoursalternative start live another life but there are so many great mods that add to the game without changing the world settingtake your time and browse the different categories you will be suprised how many great mods there are that never make the spot light
notmyhome
ALL AND ANY of the "For good guys" mods. Many people have been set off by how Daedric quests would force you to do unspeakable things, and these give alternative means of completing them. The downside: Spoilers for the vanilla quest.Really, for your first playthrough, stay outta quest mods. Enjoy that first time experiencing a game as grand as Skyrim. There are plenty of complete overhauls that make Skyrim make more sense (SkyRe, Requiem, SPERG) or focus on single aspects they change (Thunderchild for Shouts, Existential Alchemy [totally underrated!]). They'll make great additions for later games. But yea, really, if you ask me, the first game should be played with as much of the original atmosphere as possible. Many Frostfall users for example have the feeling they don't play Skyrim but Frostfall.

There were lots of other mods I installed and played with but these 3 would be ones that I feel would not damage your first play through or alter the game play dynamics in anything substantial from lore. So many other great suggestions will be thrown at you, and let me tell you it is addicting trying and playing with mods, I've spent more time reading mod descriptions, installing mods and trying them since finishing my first play through than actually playing my second one.
