Hoax86
So, we have a fun game with great dialogue and rather pretty graphics. We have companion NPCs who range from interesting to compelling. We have great animations for our characters, but they all have to swing anime-large weapons. The two-handers in particular look oversized, badly balanced and clumsy. What I'd like to see is somebody either scale down the two-handers and longswords, or replace the two-handed swords with the longsword models. At the same time, renaming daggers to "short swords" would make a lot of sense, since when the word dagger is used these days it usually refers to a knife-sized blade, not one the length of a man's arm. The daggers in particular with their ridiculously huge size. I think BW was afraid of the weapons being too small so that detail didn't show up, but frankly I'd prefer hard to see weapons to clumsy Fisher-Price looking models. I can understand wanting something easily recognizable in the strategic overview camera mode, but when it's entirely possible to have the camera over the character's shoulder and the game makes good use of closeups in conversations, I feel it would be better to have weapons that look right when zoomed in. Nodrak
The Zweihänder could be up to 180 cm (6 ft) long from the base of the pommel to the tip of the blade, with a 120–150 cm (4–5 ft) blade and 30–45 cm (1–1½ ft) hilt. The weight could range between 2 kg and 3.2 kg (4½–7 lb). However, a ceremonial Zweihänder, which was unsuitable for combat, could weigh up to 7 kg (16 lb). Hoax86
Well, if we're bringing history into it, the greatswords should be named longswords, the longswords should be named arming swords, etc. etc. Zweihanders existing in stupid sizes doesn't make the weapons in Dragon Age look any less goofy. desertrunner
I remember seeing a post where a modder was saying that he was in the process of working on this very thing. He was also adding new weapons as well (with new skills). If you look at the Bioware forums you could probably find it. I think that you will have to wait a bit longer because it is not finished yet though.
