jjb54
Yes, I am sure that this has been dislodged - I did do a Search Windows 8.1 PRO and was prompted for more information. Apparently that was too 'generic' for the FO - NV Forum. ( And Other Game Forums ) So here is my pretty simple straight forward question: I am getting my new computer next week. YAY!!! Yes, I'm excited. (Duh!!) It will be my "god machine" for about 30 seconds and then be out of date. . o 0 ( sigh ) So here is the question: I've read and re-read issues with Skyrim and Win 8.1. How much grief and/or frustration will I have in getting FO - NV and FO NV Loader - and such to work, with Win 8.1 Pro??? In other words - are there some 'tricks' and 'steps' that I should be aware of, that would make this transition 'easier' ??? I have been using Win XP since well - it first came out .. so that tells you how long I've used it. So, yes I know and understand - Win 8.1 is >NOT< Win XP ... I totally understand that. As I understand - 64bit is going to be different from my 32bit. So just good helpful advice - steps - would be appreciated. As I have read from other posts: Q: "Will I have problems with FO-NV & FO-3 and Windows 8.x?" A: "No, works like a charm?" Q: "Then why isn't it working like a charm for me? Could you give some ideas of what you did???" <- Another number of users posted this, in various formats. A: .... ....... .......... ......... ........................ ( bzzzzzz ) of fly in room. They never did get an answer to that question. So I'm hoping for some helpful input as I know other's will likely read this and appreciate it as well. :D Thanks ... Jj .... Yes - this is a 'repeat' from the Skyrim Forum as I figured - some will go - FALLOUT DOES NOT BELONG IN SKYRIM ... Thanks again - ... Jj ... kkk122
Random freezes including BSOD errors can occur on certain multi core hardware environments due to incompatibilities with the game engine. You can try to avert these issues by limiting the game to use only two cores.Open fallout.ini file in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV with a text editor such as Notepad. Look for the string bUseThreadedAI=0 Change it to bUseThreadedAI=1 Add another line beneath the above, iNumHWThreads=2 Save and close this file. Repeat steps 2-5 for fallout_default.ini file in installation dir (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas)Source: http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/10/fallout-new-vegas-fix-crash-freezing.htmlIt could freeze/crash/stuff. There's that solution. Works for me, although I have Win8 not 8.1. Hard to tell what the solution is if you don't even have a problem.
