dkamm65
Ok this may or may not be a complicated question, I don't know though, I've never done it before. Here's my situation. I currently have a dual boot of Windows 7 RC and The final version of Windows 7 Ultimate. I have Oblivion installed on the RC version and I want to know if there is a way to transfer the entire install over to Windows 7 Ultimate WITHOUT having to reinstall everything. I have TONS of mods installed and it would be a real pain having to re-download all of them. I assume it's possible since it would be a transfer from one operating system to a nearly identical operating system. They're both 64 bit, they're both the Ultimate versions, and they both have the same user name to the account. Is this AT ALL possible? I would be willing to manually edit registry settings(if necessary) and everything since it would be easier than re-downloading all of my mods. If you're wondering why I want to transfer it, it's because the operating system I have it installed on is loaded with useless crap software and other junk that slows down my performance. I plan on removing it from my computer anyway, I just don't want to lose all of my Oblivion progress and stuff. PLEASE tell me it's possible, and maybe how to do it (correctly). MikeHibs
You could just install Oblivion, update it, then copy your mods over from your other OS.That should save the time of changing your registry, without having to re-download your mods. It's not the ideal way of doing this, but it should work.
Jenrai
Yeah, thats what I'd do. Well, pretty much. Reinstall then just import the old data folder to your new Oblivion location. Any pluggys/OBMM/OBSE I think will need to be reinstalled though. Not 100% sure about the CS. Also, and I know this kind of double fail safe sometimes takes a while and isn't to everyone's liking, but I've kept the zips of all the Obi mods I've installed and copied them to a CD... just in case. Might be worth thinking about for those of us who have suspect internet connections (thats why I did it), smaller HDDs, or perhaps older computers/master operating systems.
