Micko
Have you read the CS Wiki guide? I'm no dialogue expert but what you need to know is all in the Wiki, have you made a new quest before you try to edit dialogue?
David Brasher
TES CS + Vista == CTD The problem you are reporting is common. I guess you have already taken the anti-Vista steps to outwit your own security system to use your own computer? There is quite a bit of documentation on coping with the Vista problem. Unfortunately, it almost seems like there is a great variation between systems. Mine crashes about 2% of the time, but some people have it crash 100% of the time even if they took exactly the same precautions I did. The worst quirk my system has is that I cannot edit mod descriptions because it crashes 100% of the time. Some people have problems so bad that they cannot mod at all. Hopefully you will find a solution, but I fear that it is possible that with your particular system there might not be a solution and you would have to get different software or a different computer. (Hopefully not.)
Traveler247
I apologize for resurrecting an old topic. This is for fellow googlers, like myself. Here is where I found the solution (post #6 by BisonTusk111): http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/oblivion_cs_general/b49686/20098873/p1/ I would like to give him credit for finding this solution, which is incredibly simple and easy to use: plug in something into the microphone jack on your computer. I mean anything. A set of Headphones, an extender cable, a microphone, anything will work, as long as it fits in the hole. When you do this, you will not encounter any problems with editing or creating dialogue. Thanks to BisonTusk111 for this solution, and I hope this helps anyone out there experiencing similar problems.

TheDragonSkill
When I try this solution it will still give me the same error. The same counts for the construction set extender, it still gives me the very same error. Anyone got a idea what could help??
butthaircurly
From what I gather, for whatever reason, if you have a microphone plugged into your computer it fixes it. :/ I dunno what to tell to people like me who don't own a microphone. Surilindur
I do not have a microphone plugged in, either (not a fan of voice chat, my voice sounds horrible!), but the Construction Set Extender works fine at the moment and allows me to edit and view dialogue without issues. But I have also disabled all the microphone entries in the volume icon right-click context menu -> recording devices if that makes any difference. Could the crash be related to something else, something more specific to one's system, when plugging in a microphone is not always necessarily needed? :ermm:
