Certain Mod Messing Things Up

There is a certain mod I have downloaded that makes it so that whenever I attack, the game crashes. After turning off nearly ALL of my mods, I have concluded it is a problem with my mods. If anyone knows a mod that causes the above-mentioned problem, or any duo that cause conflict resulting in such a way, please leave a reply telling me the name(s) so that I can use all of my mods freely without glitches. I cannot give a list of my current mods, because frankly I have too many. Still, any help would be appreciated in assisting me to find the problem mod. Thanks for any help, this bug has been driving me insane :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

Without a mod list, this cannot be answered. You should be able to use OBMM or wyrebash to export a mod list.

That said, off hand, the most likely candidate would probably be a mod which uses OBSE and checks for player attacks, like deadly reflexes. This doesn't necessarily mean that mod is responsible, but could simply mean that it wasn't installed right, isn't using the right OBSE version, or has a conflict with some other mod.

It could also be a resource, like an attack animation replacer, or the result of removing a replacer for a default animation when the game being used was already saved using that replacement. You might want to try making a new game and seeing if you still crash, crash by using fist, or crash when using a weapon.

How to post a Load order list article

And, If you do have 'too many' you may have reached the 254 mod limit. If you can remove several mods at random and it works - try counting them.

Also, just having too many mods in the data folder - active or not can cause a problem. Move unused mods completely out of the oblivion folder.

I had about 50 mods, but after going through and deleting every single mod that I didn't think I couldn't live without, the game seems to work again. It might have been too many active mods (I have a bad computer), or it might have been a single mod. However, the game works now. I'll try and delete the inactive files in my data folder, to increase performance. Thanks for the advice, bben, it saved a part of my sanity.

Btw, just asking so I don't have to post another topic, how come whenever I move my mouse cursor up-left, it shows my desktop cursor, and when I click I get sent to my desktop? It use to crash my computer, but ever since I got rid of a whole bunch of mods it only bothers me. Is it because I have OBSE?

The likely cause could be something as simple as having other windows or applications open while you play. Some things, like browser windows can be continually flagged as being active due to scripts or banners that track for mouse movements or refresh. If your computer is a lower spec, you're almost always better off closing down everything non-essential before starting the game. If you have vista, you should also disable that little desktop widget thingy (usually shows a clock) since it too can have the same issues. If you use a different resolution for your desktop than you do in game, what you click on could even be in a totally different location on screen between the two.
