How do i edit textures ?

I have been looking for the same thing and haven't find a proper answer, but this is what I have figured out.

1. If you are using just a photoshop you need a dds. plugin for it (I downloaded it from nVidias web-site, cause I have nVidias Graphic Card)

2. You need to get texturefiles from armor you wish to edit, for example I downloaded a mod file that contains four dds. files and opened them in photoshop to edit, but you can also extract the original erf. file to get those. To extract the erf. file I don't know how and I'd like to know it too. Ofcourse if you use someones made mod you have to ask a permission before you share it.

3. When you have edited dds. files, save them and use DTX5 RGB and select generate bitmaps when the plugin opens a setting window. I used these settings and they looked fine for me in game, thought I only edited armor colors.

I'm not sure is this the right way to retexture armors, I'd like get more info for this too.

One thing that happened for me when I tried to change armor texture more than just a color was that some areas from the armor shows white in game (like they doesn't have a texture at all). I don't know how to solve this, maybe my way to retexture armors is totally wrong or I simply just miss something small. I Hope others will answer this thred too and that I helped you least a bit.

erf files can be extracted by using the toolset.

1) start the toolset.

2) select file -> open file. then choose the .erf file (whether it's from a mod or the vanilla ones), and the toolset will show you a long row of files. There you can either right click on one single file and choose to extract that specific one, or select "extract all" to a folder of your choice after right-clicking. That should give you the dds files you need.

EDIT: hm, did I really need to break that down to 2 steps? ah, whatever
