RobertHawker
I'm a noob and not relay computer savvy in general. I have been trying to install and use a body mod for fallout 3 for a few hours not and I cant seem to figure out what I did wrong. I downloaded and ran this program into my fallout 3 folder: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 I placed the mod into the D:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\fomm\mods folder. I downloaded the fallout mod manager program and went into the package manager tab and activated the mod. Then when I launch fallout 3 no mod? Am I missing some painfully obvious step here or is there actually something wrong? If some one could walk me through this I would greatly appreciate it. csb
When using FOMM, it is best to use the "Toggle invalidation" button after installing a new mod that adds content to any of the Data directory's sub-directories. That said, you shouldn't install body mods using FOMM's package manager, as most of them have options to manually choose from (Breeze's is an exception because he created the fomod script necessary to select the choices and automate the process). Ensure that FOMM installed the meshes/textures for the body mod to the right directory, and they are correctly named (i.e., upperbodyfemale.dds, not upperbodySomeModVariantfemale.dds). The same goes with the meshes folder. Ensure that things like skeleton.nif, etc. are in the proper place and properly named. To see what Fallout3 expects, open the Fallout3 BSA files for textures and meshes and make sure that the mod you installed, installed to the directory and used the names as indicated (note: do not select extract when dnoe, merely close the BSA extraction utility in FOMM). csb
As a follow-up to Bran, some mods (and a good number of body-replacer mods) offer variations of meshes and textures ... be sure to install only one of the options. In some cases you might have to rename a file (or two). For example, Dimonized Type 3 has add-on texture options for intimate area hair (or lack of), but the files are named something like upperbodyfemaleNOTRIM.dds. You'd have to rename that to upperbodyfemale.dds in order for it to work in-game.
