get the TES plugin for 3dsmax off the bethesda website for exporting your swords into .nif files and from there you can import them into the editor. Oh and make sure your material type is TES shader. As for your textures, it looks like you are using a pretty high resolution texture map. When it comes to modding however i'd keep it to a max size of 512 x 512 because the construction set seems to gag sometimes randomly on anything higher. Also put the textures in DDS or TGA format, it helps. You also need to position the weapon acurately in max so it displays right when the plyer equips it. I'm sure you don't want to be walking around with a sword stuck in your characters eye or something. Anyways good luck and nice texture job.
