Need help with *.mor file

Because I was unhappy with the appearance of one of my chars, I wanted to replace her by something better.

My attempts to do it manually in the toolset failed. Now I found the file "ef_ekatherine.mor" here and dl'ed it.

The description was rather vague "install by editing your game with toolset".

I don't have the slightest idea, what the author wants me to do.

BTW, I appreciate the work of the modders and I assume, most of them make their mods also for normal people, who are

just simple users and not versed programmers.

If my assumption is correct, then I ask politely for better descriptions than the one which I mentioned above.

Thats the EFVampiric Mod here: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=150

if i am right?

well the description of the mod that the autor gives is basically a joke in my opinion, he cant expect others to use his mod with one vague sentence on how to install it

in the comments for this mod you can find a description on how to get it working, ist still quite basic but better than nothing:

First unpack the file to

...Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override\

Then open the savegame you wish to edit with the toolset and change the

SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR\SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR\SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE\SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME string

to *filename*.mor

Here is a better description:

* Place ef_ekatherine.mor in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override

* Locate your save folders in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters\(name)\Saves

* Choose the save you want to edit and open the DAS file in the toolset

* Click the box next to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR, then SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR, then SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE

* Find SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME and edit the line on the right hand side to read "ef_ekatherine" (without the quotes)

* Save the file.

* Go to Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\Modules and delete the 'Single Player' folder. (just if there is one)

* Enjoy your new face!

i hope that helps you, and you should post in the comments of that mod that you want a better description so the author knows.

if you need further help just ask =)

Thanks a lot :kiss:

This description will solve my problems. Furthermore, I'll have a chance now to learn the new toolset as I learnt the toolsets of NWN 1+2.

One more question:

Does this mod only change the face or the stature as well?

Background for this:

I like to play "beautiful" characters. In my eyes the female dwarfes are ways to sturdy and look like broads in the true sense of the word.

So, my idea was to replace my female dwarf commoner rogue with the appearance of an elf.

If "ef_ekatherine.mor" only replaces the face, what must I do to have an elven body? I've seen the entries in SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE, but I either got a bald elf or my dwarf's head sitting on the elven body without a neck. I guess, I forgot something :)

This mod only changes the HEAD, not only the face, and it does nothing with the body.

Regarding the face on an elven body i am not sure, i dont mod myself, but here a thread that might help you getting to a solution:

i am sorry thats all i found, maybe there is more at the da builder wiki: http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset

i wish you luck =)

That could be a solution. I learnt, that I can use the console instead of the toolset, which is quite a progress for me :)

The remaining question is, if the character whose appearance I change - let's say a dwarf to elf - will STAY a dwarf for the game-scripts.

In other words: Will I really only change the looks or will the changed character be recognized as elf by NPCs etc.?

If the latter would be the case, I can imagine that this would lead to serious problems with my game :)
