excesspace
Hello all, I'm completely new to moding. I have been playing oblivion since release, over and over and over! =) All i'm simply looking for are is large quantities of new gear and any other absolutly "must have" mods. I look forward to any and all advise. Thank you for your assistance and time. Excesspace
Unavi
First of all, welcome to the Nexus. :)For the first step i'd advice you to check the top 100 mods list. If something is must have, it is in that list ;)
ptbptb
and any other absolutly "must have" mods. It's a tad cheeky, but I'll post a link to an article I've just written called My first twenty mods installed. You might find something useful there. xxXEvandarXxx
All of my mods are essential. Nah just kidding :D You should check out FCOM. It's a great mod. Installing it may seem very difficult, but it's easy if you follow the guide linked to in the FCOM thread there. It's really worth it if you take the time to install it properly. HOlyCrapOfGod
For BEST MUST HAVE: Midas Magic For racesI recomend my Races(Yorkenheimer Race Pack) (He he he) However, the current top is Ren's Beauty Pack For scary:Gates To Aesguaard For Companion:Talkie Toaster&CM Companions (If you can find it, Darian's Capable Companions is my favourate, but I think it got taken down) For a house:Bravil Sea Domes For A CastleGlenvar Castle is nice(WARNING: HARD QUEST, BUT THEIR IS A PLAY THROUGH ON YOUTUBE) And for Evil6th Element Alot of people will recommend Deadly Reflex, but personally I think it's a little too touchy if your new. I was thinking of starting a BEGINNERS PACK with all the must haves, but I first need to contact all these people and I am to busy modding and complaining about stuff, But i'll get around to it :)
bben46
Welcome to TesNexus As mods are very subjective, their really are no must have mods. Everybody likes different things. If everybody wanted the same thing there would only be one mod for each category. Just because I like a mod doesn't mean that you will- or should - like it. Look through the top 100 list first. These are the most popular mods and most of the ones you will like are probably to be found here. If not, there are over 17,500 more where those came from. Now, there are some things you should have no matter what your taste. These are actually utility programs that make it easier or better to work with mods.Be sure to read the instructions as these do not install like mods and if you install them wrong, they will be useless to you. OBMM - Oblivion Mod Manager - needed to change the mod load order, along with many other handy utility functions.Available here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm_download.html OBSE - Oblivion Script Extender - Needed for many mods, without it they will not work.Available Here: http://obse.silverlock.org/ Then you will need an unzipping program. I recommend 7-zip. It is absolutely FREE, unlike other popular unzippers such as Winraar - which is a try before you buy and constantly reminds you to pay for it, 7-Zip , available FREE at TesNexus, Here: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 Now, some advice, Don't install a bunch of mods at one time. The time you save will be lost trying to find which one is causing the problem. Instead install one mod, start the game and make sure it works before installing another. If there is a problem, fox it before installing another mod. More mods will not make it better and will probably make it worse as well as harder to find out which mod is causing the problem.
