Origin of the Gray Prince, Worst Quest Ever?

but he woulda, at the end of the day, been a ghost. Use a silver weapon with any enchantment except frost and he's going down real hard, real fast.

Those weaknesses could easily be countered, just adjust his stats or give him some magic abilities and resistances. Give him a Mannimarco Revisited level of pain-dealing potential, but with a style all his own to match the legend of Gaiden Shinji. Sure would give me more incentive to run the Arena gauntlet again (I hate reruns >.<).

.... I'd like to see the spirit of Shinji possess the Blue team Gladiator who WAS your friend up until now.....

Hadn't actually thought of it that way... that could be a good one. ;)

I dunno though. Theres a lotta the whole "Thom has resurrected *Richard*, and must be stopped or they'll destroy the world" or "Harry is back from the dead and coming to kill my mother's sister's husband's cousin... please help!" stuff going on. I s'pose thats part of the reason why I was sorta against the idea of resurrecting Shinji in the first place. There's enough undead already. There's gotta be a better way of satisfying the need to 'earn' the championship and allowing people to complete the origins quest too, should they want, rather than another ghost story. As I already said, the Yellow team would batter the GP, and ergo I think you earn the title in that fight. He is actually really, really soft... and I've fought him at many different levels with different classes. The three Yellow Team gladiators are always a much, much harder fight.

Additionally, I think the GP's surrender is a nice twist in what can become a very hack/slash/slash some more, dull affair... so probably wouldn't change that so much as add something new to it. Hmmmm. Interesting idea for a mod, this.

I played the game when it first came out, on XBOX360, extensively.

This is my perspective: On pc I have not bothered to pursue the base quest lines.

With overhaul mods such as OOO though, I find it hard to believe he's easy prey, on any day. Obviously there are so many variables in a modded game, almost any opponent can be easy prey, willing or not (except Balrogs!). I still and always will appreciate the unexpected 'norm' of this type of game play.

I don't need to kill the guy to win...

  • 2 weeks later...
Well i took advantage of the situation, gave the journal, learned the GP moves and then charged the GP on maximum difficulty with an iron dagger that i repaired 3-4 times, in the end i gained around 4 levels in blade :P
