VanKrill
I would note that Dragons themselves are very close to a Dinosaur, and there are Netch, Guar, Mammoths and Rhinos as well. Additionally, a number of non-prehistoric creature fit the "Savage Wildes" theme, Wolves, DireWolves, DarkHounds, Cave Bears, SabreCats, and Giant Spiders. If the intent of a Pre-historic mod was to simply create a world with lots of large and mean spirited beasts, along with crude, hand made tools and weapons for the humans, a kind of "Land of the Lost"... If that is the goal, that atmosphere could be achieved with already existing creatures and weapons. The largest effort would be to create new lands, free from walled cities, and populate it with re-spawning beasties. I emphasize the Re-Spawn, as your players will be killing them off over and over. The Wow Zone of Un'Goro Crater is a great example of how this can be done. http://www.wowwiki.com/Un%27Goro_Crater Creating an Un'Goro Crater mod in Skyrim is a VERY interesting idea. The glowing crystal shards, hot springs and magic Monoliths are an important part of that mythology. It would have to be renamed and altered significantly to avoid copyright issues, but the basic theme has been around since the early writings of Edgar Burroughs.- Edited May 5, 2014 by VanKrill
notmyhome
Probably the worst part is the land itself. Adding spawners to an existing, navmeshed surface is being done daily - getting heightmaps, navmeshes and textures and whatnot, that's the hard part.Someone, somewhere, maybe in a different thread, suggested taking all the human population off Skyrim's map, leaving an arena in which this mod could perform wonderfully. The Tropical Skyrim mod would offer vegetation for a Dinosaur setting, because, as we all know, those cold-blooded animals wouldn't survive all too long in freezing ol' Skyrim. Well, that's the beauty of the Un'Goro Crater idea, it is in its own self-contained deep valley. It could also be done in a very large cavern or series of large cavern rooms with magical "SunStones" up in the ceiling to provide sunlight, and the hot springs and other volcanic activity making the warmth. With that concept, the primeval forest could be limited in scope and difficulty to create. The Entrance could be made in any of the high mountain peaks in the existing game. There could be a VERY long Fall with a magic web catcher at the bottom as the initial entrance, giving the perception of the whole Cavern world being miles underground. ReaverJolt
What is with this Un'Goro Crater? Since you say it's from WOW it feels like I would have to make the spawning system for the dinosaurs like the spawning systems in an MMO. I just want to make the system similar to Falskaars spawning system. I don't want the dinosaurs or other prehistoric creatures to spawn in the way creatures spawn in an MMO. this would mean each creature would have to be roaming around in one very little area. And they would be spawning respawning after 5 minutes because they'd be killed in that little area. I don't think that's a good Idea Sorry. I want to keep this mod from being like an MMO. I want to keep this mod from being like an MMO.Well, there is a reason that MMOs respawn on a regular interval... it creates replay ability. In a small ( relative to a large outdoor land) cavern system, without respawn, the player would quickly "Clear" all of the Monsters, and there goes the threat and adventure. The whole point of a Wildes hunting ground is the primitive beastie threat. I would not make the Skyrim Underworld respawn identical to an MMO, in that I would balance it around script driven Predator-Prey relationships and base the time interval on a few days of GAMETIME, not a few minutes of player time. Additionally, if you hunt off all of the small game animals, the now too large Predator population starts looking for alternative meals... i.e. the Player. Additionally, this is different from an MMO in that there is only a fixed number of NPCs and the Player + Followers present. That means that you can scale the Wildlife population and respawn rate around that relatively fixed loading. One of the biggest problems in MMO balance is the Waves of Players who level through given zones at the same time, after the starting gun on the new expac release. I want to keep this mod from being like an MMO.I second this. The idea, is Jurassic park, a survival horror game. I'm on the same mission, to transform Skyrim into something else. I made Tropical Skyrim compatible with Frostfall, Requiem, Climates of Tamriel, just trying to get the authors permission to post it. We need someone to disable the ability to use the map. This forces you to pay more attention to your surroundings. We have quest information located on the esc menu, +Better Quest Objectives for those quests.. +Equipable Maps +Road Signs...We no longer need the map menu. JUST TRUST ME. Someone should make the mod to prevent using any hotkey to use the map menu. IT WILL CHANGE HOW you play the game XD. -I have forest fires all figured out.. no joke. If you got lost, turn around... your trapped like in Lion King. BURN. -Someone made an earthquake mod, but it has no real effect on gameplay, just for looks.. so if someone could make it dangerous,... XD -Acid rain... (the spell exists, youtube it) Metoer Shower. << Weather effects that happen. More survival. This goes slightly off course into more of nightmare Skyrim, (what I aim for) but for the Dinosuar part of this, disabling the map menu is a must. I'd presume someone who knows how to do it, won't have difficulty doing it,. Is there anyone known to be actively working on removing all people and civilizations from Skyrim Worldspace? ReaverJolt
I'm not trying to make Jurassic park in skyrim, I'm trying to make an entire new land where dinosaurs live. My goel is to make the dinosaurs seem more like animals than monsters like Jurassic park movies did. I want this to be more realistic in the sense that it's more based on the dinosaurs behavior being different as apposed to the way they acted in Jurassic park. I want to make this mod unique, not Jurassic park related because we had way to many Jurassic park things. Besides, I'm not making this horror related either. I'm making it like the skytest realistic wildlife and animals mod. Personally for me,I think making the dinosaur mod a survival horror is a terrible Idea sorry. In the first post I read you have a lot of ideas so I don't have a good idea of your "theme". I was thinking survival horror so I must be way off.
