for most mods, the easiest way I've found to do it, is to download the oblivion Mod Manager.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

When you download and install it, you should get to a screen that looks like this:

there won't be any mods installed yet.

But what you want to do, is hit the 'create' button, right below the big while panel in the middle. Then another screen will pop up. now, assuming you've downloaded something already and know where it is, hit the "add archive" button and find the un-extracted zip, rar, etc folder that you downloaded. Now with that done, name the mod if it didn't automatically do so already, then hit the 'create omod' button in the bottom right hand corner of that panel.

Wait a bit, and it will be done.

Then, with your new mod in the list, click on it. it should install into oblivion. A green light means that the mod can be safely installed, blue means the mod is installed, and red means the mod isn't installed, and there's a conflicting file somewhere. To uninstall a mod, just double click the mod.

I have a set of help files for people who are not computer geeks and are new to mods. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a simple mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them.

If you use them I would appreciate some feedback as to what needs improvement and what works for you.
