Themias
Whenever I visit the Anvil Docks, whether it be from fast-traveling, going through the gate from anvil to the docks, or walking around to the docks, it crashes, I receive the error "Oblivion has stopped working". I thought it might be a mod or something I had added on, but i had been able to travel there before even when I had my most recently added mod on. I believe it may have something to do with DLC Thieves' Den, as I did this quest recently, as was actually going to add more members to my crew (from that one lady on the boat). Here is my mod list:oblivion.esmkvatch rebuilt.esmfrancesco's leveled creatures-items mod.esmfrancesco's optional new creatures add-on.esmfrancesco's optional new items addon.esmhorsecombatmaster.esmattack and hide easier v2.0.espunofficial shivering isles patch.espunofficial oblivion patch.espdlchorsearmor.espdlchorsearmor - unofficial patch.espdlcorrery.espdlcorrery - unofficial patch.espdlcfrostcrag.espdlcfrostcrag - unofficial patch.espdlcthievesden.espdlcthievesden - unofficial patch - sssb.espdlcthievesden - unofficial patch.espdlcvilelair.espdlcvilelair - unofficial patch.espdlcmehrunesrazor.espdlcmehrunesrazor - unofficial patch.espdlcspelltomes.espdlcspelltomes - unofficial patch.espknights.espknights - unofficial patch.espdlcshiveringisles.espdlcbattlehorncastle.espdlcbattlehorncastle - unofficial patch.espquest award leveller.espquest award leveller - vile lair.espquest award leveller - knights of the nine.espquest award leveller - mehrunes razor.espfrancesco's 10 days respawn time - 1-20 day lenght rescale.esp francesco's slower skills x1.5.espfrancesco's optional files.espclocksofcyrodiil.espclocksofcyrodiilnoarcane.espthieves arsenal.espkvatch rebuilt - ooo compatibility.esp (not active)kvatch rebuilt.espcrowded roads advanced.espcrowded roads advanced less crowded.esp (not active) natural_weather_by_max_tael.espnatural_weather_hdr_by_max_tael.espnatural_water_by_max_tael.espnatural_habitat_by_max_tael.espnatural_vegetation_by_max_tael.espp1dkeychain.espwindowlightingsystem.esp (I have the proper omod files)crossbows of cyrodiil.espdeadly reflex 5 - timed block and 250% damage.esp (inactive)deadly reflex 5 - timed block with no damage or durability changes.esp (inactive)deadly reflex 5 - timed block and 150% damage.esp (inactive)deadlyreflex 5 - combat moves.esp I have oblivion mod manager to have these in the right load order, and I have obse v17b (most recent stable version I think). attack and hide easier v2.0.esp was the most recent one and may be the culprit, even though I was able to go there before with this on. (I attempted to go to the docks with this mod deactivated was not successful) So is it a corrupted save, or do I need to reinstall, or what else is this noob to do? bben46
From your description of the crash, I suspect it is something you removed. Likely a part of some mod that you no longer use. When you go into that cell, the game tries to load something that the save says should be there - and is no longer available to be loaded. Hmm I see what you are saying, but is there like an oblivion crash log.txt or something to that effect so that I can see what the missing file is? The only mods that I had that would affect Anvil Docks are accounted for. I reinstalled The Thieves Den, and I was able to go into the cave, talk to the pirates, etc. I went around Anvil Castle on the left side and swam up to the docks, ...and it didn't crash. I was able to talk to the lady and pay 1000 gold for a fletcher, then i left, and saved (as this was a miracle). Then after I saved I went back to the docks.....and it crashed. I tried loading up and going into the cave/talk to the pirates, and then to the docks, and it still crashes on the docks. What the heck?? Why would it work that one time? I'm thinking that perhaps it is a specific person that wasnt able to load, (I thought it might be that the window meshes for the boats from that mod weren't working, but I was able to go there, and the boats windows lit up fine, as well as windows in boats at the Waterfront.) So....I'm confused. I checked for leftover files from old mods, I had already cleaned them out long ago.

ptbptb
Anyone have any idea? If you haven't got it by now then reinstall is probably the best option (presuming you do not have a clean back up of the Data folder). Reinstall into C:\Games\Oblivion (or folder of your choice, but not the default C:\Program Files\...). This time take a copy of the Data folder after installing all official patches but before installing any mods. As you'll be starting mod installation from scratch I also suggest that you take the opportunity to make .omod versions of all non-omod mods. (There's a compilation of omod conversion data folders somewhere, and I've got a few in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28491 ). It's also a good idea to export omod conversion data for any mods that you convert (so you won't ever have to do it again for any reason).
Themias
I was afraid I would have to reinstall, oh well. At least now I will be able to do the smart thing and have the back up data folder as I had always meant to. Thanks
Themias
Ok, I reinstalled (and followed your advice with the omod's and whatnot) and still no luck. I tried going to the docks on a different file, and it was fine. So if the problem is just with this save, is this one save just screwed, or is there some way to fix it? I even used oblivion mod manager to sync the save with the current mods, and everything was green. Is there some program that keeps track of the processes within oblivion that I could use? That way I could see what file is corrupted/missing or whatever and I could try to fix it.

It is quite possible for a single save to become corrupt (I had an instance of that recently where all NPC dialogues disappeared).
Themias
Eeeehhh crap, I think this particular save is boned. I just needed to go there one more time to pay the lady 2000 gold for the last pirate crew members for my thieves den, and I'd never have to go back there again. :(
Themias
Yay! I was able to circumvent the problem by using the console command "movetoqt" to move to her inside of her boat (since she's the quest target to upgrade the thieves den) and was able to hire the last two pirates! Huzzah! (Screw the rest of that friggen harbor :) )
