Recruiting\Looking for help "Dark Brotherhood Reborn"

I have been working on a mod for some time now and have slowly (but surely) come to the conclusion that to make it happen I'm going to need help from others in the modding community. Mind you I have been playing around with the construction set for some time now (mostly out of curiosity and simple fun) but this is a VARY large mod I'm attempting to make. Put simply ... i need help.

 

For starters I am going to avoid posting specific issues. This mod is still some ways from completion and, fate willing, as the help i get solves particular issues and new ones come up, I'm going to need some way to organize the advice i get so that any one issue doesn't get mixed up with another.

 

For now I'm just testing the waters to find how many out there may be willing to help with this endeavor.

 

What I Need:

1. people willing to give some simple advice about scripting (perhaps I'm just particularly thick but after 2 weeks of bumbling threw the construction set wiki for scripting advice I feel more confused by it now than i did when i started)

2. people willing to put some time and energy into doing some work in areas of this mod that so far i have neglected.

3. suggestions for resources that may be useful to me (and others if anyone should want to become more deeply involved in creating it)

4. support and suggestions. If anyone can amend an idea i have or post an idea that will make this mod better i DEFIANTLY want to hear them. i am always open to any ideas you may have. if you think of something ... Post It ... chances are i may run with it in the end.

 

What Is The Mod

Dark Brotherhood Reborn is a Major overhaul of the Vanilla Oblivion Dark Brotherhood quest line. Before, During ... and After.

 

What It Will Include

1. Additional Main and Side quests that become available as the player advances threw the DB.

2. New Items, enemies, and factions.

3. Improvements to the original quests that make them more interesting and\or challenging.

4. Many New NPC's, Dungeons, and Locations

5. (if permitted by there original anthers) Integration of Many other successful DB mods into one complete package.

6. New Listener Quests. Stop those within the DB who would Usurp Control of it from you. Weed out the cancerous elements that poison it from within. Put an end to interference by Morrowind's Morag Tong as they make a bid to end the DB once and for all. Restore the Brotherhood to its former glory ... and reap the benefits that Sithis would grant his chief servant for such efforts.

 

Reasons For This Mod

 

1. The DB is a supposed to be this huge Tamriel wide Organization. for an group that large, i found the original quest line to be far to short and easy to suddenly run it all based entirely on what happened in a single Provence.

 

2. The benefits of being "Listener" are surprisingly poor. Get a low level lackey to do your bidding? A few hundred gold a week? Pathetic.

 

3. I find it hard to believe that a contenent wide group like the DB would have so little presence. It has nearly NO presence whatsoever at the Night Mothers Tomb. And would Tamriel wide only Merritt a paltry handful of potential victims in a given week.

 

3. Knowledge of more than one sanctuary is restricted by the black hand, i understand that. But as leader of the black hand the player should have access to all that the DB has to offer. (IE new sanctuaries, more services, ETC.)

 

4. There is a stunningly deep reservoir of Lore and History in the elder scrolls games regarding the DB. Most of it at best was never touched on ... and at worst, blatantly defied by oblivion. If the developers had used this Lore to there advantage, it would have created a much richer game experience.

 

What Is Completed

 

1. I have already posted "Morag Tong Assassins" on Oblivion Nexus. I will be using it as a groundwork for advancing a quest line involving them.

 

2. A majority of the concept work is complete (IE: NPC Creation, Dialog, Quest write ups, Etc...) however nearly all of it is still in the "Pen and Paper" phase and still needs to be plugged into the Construction Set.

 

3. The basic ground work has been arranged i such a way that this mod may be completed with minimal incompatibility issues with other mods. Mostly by minimizing modifications to the original game world and restricting a majority of effects to entirely new and unique World Spaces, Scripts, Factions, and Quests. (with a few exceptions)

 

 

That's about all i have to say ... if i can ill amend the above to answer questions or requests as they come. This is the first time I have ever asked the community for help like this and I'm unfortunately learning as I go. But like I said ... I'm willing to take any suggestions you may have that can help me.

Personally. I'd be absolutely overjoyed to help! I love the Brotherhood, and think this idea absolutely smashing.

 

This would, though, probably be better suited to the File Requests and Suggestions forum, as there are a few people on it I know who would love to help out. Just a suggestion.

Your intension are good, though you'll never gonna pull it off.. :(

I'm a huge fan of DB and I would like to see this happening, but many have tried, and failed.

 

Check out The Dark Brotherhood. Thats probably the biggest DB-project, and maybe, just maybe they'll pull it off!

Though they HAVE used some years now... :P

@TC: Sorry man, I'm no use to you, but I'm rootin' for ya, the more mods the better, and it sounds like you have your poo mostly in order, so that's always a plus.

Thanks for the support guys ... and yes Armagedd0n is quite right about how intensive this project is going to be :happy:

best case scenario (since I'm also involved in modding projects for Civilization 4 and fallout 3 as well) i wont be completing any serious work on this for another year or more when I'm done learning Python coding, C++ and Nifskope.

but barring disaster something notable should come out of this ... eventually. :laugh:
