ptbptb
Started over from beginning where should i install oblivion i use windows vista. NOT to C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\ (or wherever the default location is. Stick it in C:\Games\Oblivion or C:\Oblivion or wherever. (N.B. Replace 'C:' with drive of choice ;-) Oh, and take a backup of the Data folder before adding any mods but after installing all official patches. bben46
If your new path is C:\Games\Oblivion then your new data will be C:\Games\Oblivion\Data. Any utility (OBMM, OBSE etc) that says to install to the oblivion directory (or folder) should go directly into the C:\Games\Oblivion folder and not the data folder. The game will know where to find it. Your saved games and Oblivion.ini file will be in the original default location as there is no need to put them in another place. This works for both Vista and Win7 Now, if you install other games, you can use the C:\Games\newgame path to keep them out of the program files where UAC wants to control them.
